It won't shift to 4th at high altitude. Nothings wrong. It's saving your transmission. Supposed to be 4000ft but might be effected by stress put on the tranny

1988 Toyota/Winebago rig. Drove from Texas Hill Country to CO and NM on two separate trips. Once we go to Ft FStocton, TX(elevation ~3000 ft) transmission wouldn't shift into final gear. No final gear in NM and CO above this elevation. As soon as we drove back to Ft Stockton, it shifted. Recent trip (4/24) to NM (elevation ~6000 ft) with rebuilt transmission, it did exact same thing.
What would account for transmission not shifting above a certain elevation, then shifting when below it (~3000 ft)
