hamkid Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) Muffler needs to be replaced. Cut it off today. Hope I didn’t mess up. Should I try to remove the weld and reuse the pipes? Edited June 17, 2023 by hamkid Quote
extech Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 depends on what tools you have. i would use a cut off tool to remove the weld, then slit the muffler tube to get it off the tube you want to save Quote
linda s Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Just cut the weld off. You want to end up with the same length to that turn in the pipe. Motorhome exhaust pipes were often custom made to fit the required space and to stay away from holding tanks. There are lots of extensions you can use to make it match. Muffler itself can go forward or back a little so you only use 1 extension. exhaust pipe extension - Google Search Linda S Quote
hamkid Posted June 19, 2023 Author Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) Got it all off! Used cutting tool, hammer and chisel. Any suggestions for type of muffler? My nephew loves helping out! IMG_1637.MOV Edited June 19, 2023 by hamkid Quote
extech Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 i have a 30 inch glass pack. not loud and free flowing Quote
hamkid Posted June 20, 2023 Author Posted June 20, 2023 What brand? Any thoughts on Magna Flow products? Quote
WME Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 I use a muffler that was for a Ford F250 pickup with a 460 cid and a single exhaust. On my little 4 banger no major back pressure and no noise. I use stock Toyota exhaust in to the muffler and I think it was 2.5" out all the way the behind the rear axle. Quote
hamkid Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 (edited) Looking to buy this muffler. Do I buy the 2.5 and 2.75 diameter clamps? Edited June 28, 2023 by hamkid Quote
extech Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 no. the outlet is 2.25 od . thats the size for it. does your truck pipe fit into or over the inlet. that determines the inlet side clamp Quote
hamkid Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 (edited) First pic is inlet, second pic is outlet. The thing I’m confused about is the inlet size of the muffler which has 2.625 inch inside diameter. Would the 2.5 inch clamp be too small? Edited June 28, 2023 by hamkid Quote
extech Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 you need a muffler with 2in id inlet and outlet Quote
hamkid Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 It has to be 2 inches exactly, the muffler I posted won’t work? Quote
WME Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Yes 2" ID, not to sure about the clamps you posted. I went to a muffler shop. They have both stretcher and shrinker hydraulic powered. So the muffler fit perfectly. P.S. the stock is 2.5" inlet and outlet Quote
