  1. Very cheap and easy repair. http://4crawler.com/4x4//CheapTricks/Starter.shtml Good luck, Kim.
  2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/86-Toyota-Truck-4Runner-Automatic-Transmission-A-T-Model-A43D-2-4L-/321105089328?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ac35ad330&vxp=mtr
  3. You are all missing one of the biggest reasons that there are viewable differences in the “wall of side by side tvs” and it was, for me, one of those aha life lesson moments that screamed it was real. I was talking with a tv salesman about 30 years ago and he said sure, there were viewable differences. He said it depended on which model had the best spiff (first time I had ever heard that term). Because of the spiff, salespeople would slightly detune the non-spiff sets to create sales of the bigger payoff spiff sets. That, to me, totally makes sense and explains it. Kim
  4. Here is how Sunrader did it in 1987. Kim http://youtu.be/1R3c2EO4l-Y
  5. It sounds like a fuel/choke issue. There are a lot of articles on google concerning the carb. Should be a fairly cheap and simple fix, Kim. I have never rebuilt one of these but let me give some advice if you do. The specifications are not just suggestions. Set the specs exactly (in my experience this is a major source of problems with home rebuilds). Here is a good article on tracking down the cause. http://www.bluebassdesign.com/boonin/carb_faq/#cb
  6. As most will tell you, it will be slow but fine. Here is a video of us going over a summit to Lake Tahoe. Kim
  7. I have given this a lot of thought over the past few years. Just as background, I worked as a production line mechanic for about 15 years and then went to law school and spent 20 years as a federal lawyer. Never worked on cars professionally but mechanics is mechanics so far as I'm concerned. I never hoarded information and post a lot of videos on fixing different things on youtube. The problem with newsgroups is that people cannot see the person who is posting. When we judge a person's expertise we take into account all the visual clues as well as the information being presented. Posting on legal issues made this brilliantly clear to me. I would post what I felt is the appropriate legal interpretation and then anonymous people would post their equally well written but legally flawed opinions. How is the reader to know? The posters could be kids. So I almost never publicly give definitive advice anymore and it takes a while for me to accept advice given as correct. So it was with jedmaris. I read his well written posts and they jibed with my experiences and passed my "test". About a month ago I thought I should write to him and thank him for his expertise. At the risk of embarrassing him, I want to thank him for taking the time to write out well reasoned and informative posts. I, for one, appreciate and learn from them. Kim
  8. I used to have a couple of dreaded Bricklins and still have a 71 426 hemi Charger. Without getting into a bunch of stuff, a few conversations centered on leaving thermostats completely out with resulting overheating because the water did not stay in the radiator long enough to cool. Wow, folks came out of the woodwork claiming that. Seems there are more stories about cooling and the concomitant overheating than any other issue. As to thermostat failure I have had only one so far on a girlfriend's Pinto – failed open and the car would not heat up. I was inexperienced; I may have even swapped the heater core, before finally finding it. That was in '79 and still makes me shake my head. If interested, here's my hemi. Kim
  9. I was raised in Reno and now live in bay area. Have driven that many times -- it will be an easy, clear drive. Reno is 4500 and the summit is around 7000. Slight uphill for first 40 miles then down, down, down into Sacramento. Do it often in my Sunrader though you might want to go 395 and 50 to South Tahoe and go down 50 to Sacramento -- unless you are tired of Tahoe. Here is one trip to Tahoe.
  10. The ones with legs are for campfires so coals get under there -- and their top is flat, for coals to go up there too. There are DOs that have flat bottoms, they make the rockin' world go round, yeah. Kim.
  11. Season with flaxseed oil for the best result. Buy from harbor freight for 20 when on sale. http://www.harborfreight.com/12-inch-cast-iron-dutch-oven-44705.html I am a cheapskate, Kim.
  12. Here is what I ended up with -- not made in USA anymore that I could find. Kim http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Pcs-WIDE-ANGLE-REAR-WINDOW-LENS-FRESNEL-VIEW-OPTICAL-8-10-Reverse-/230882411199?pt=US_Rear_View_Monitors_Cams_Kits&hash=item35c1aa02bf
  13. Thanks so much -- I have fun doing the videos. Youtube is a wonderful way to discover stuff. Kim
  14. I would first look at your skids and make sure they are not unnecessarily low. As to options, I would try air bags before those things you posted as bags are not real expensive and tried by many. Here is how I did skids. Kim
  15. I always tip good mechanics and I make sure the one who did the actual work gets the tip. It is some of the best money spent, never expected, always appreciated. Here is a video of mine so far. My girlfriend and I did all the work. Kim
  16. These are the best I found, one over the table and you can easily read. I put them into a switched maritime dome light thing for esthetics. Kim http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BYXUOO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01
  17. No spare for me, not on my motorcycle, my sporty BMW, my pickup nor my RV. Instead I have a tire plug kit, a little compressor and fix-a-flat. Some don't like plugged tires but those new mushroom plugs are secure indeed. I have 4 in my cbx tire, one in pickup, no problem. Just pull the nail, shoot in the plug, and inflate. Won't work for sidewalls but those are very rare. The fix-a-flat is only for real emergencies. http://www.amazon.co...howViewpoints=1
  18. That's shocking. It's just like running into a brick wall going 55 except for the slight difference in weight between the Dakota and the mh. Very sad.
  19. If you're gonna give up that easily, you are in for an uphill climb. Think about it. Do you think any manufacturer of an itty bitty motorhome would use a whole lot of open space for only a table? Maybe, but I doubt it. I say this without knowing what your unit looks like so I may well be wrong. Does the table lift off the one pole? Does it look like the table fits between the opposing seats? If yes, try it. If no, figure out why not. Here is how mine was when I first got it. Good luck, Kim.
  20. My neighbor came down and said he heard a horrible screeching sound when I backed out of my driveway and into the street. Then he schooled me on Toyota pickup steering aka turn stops. Wow, what an eye opener! While under there I put some zerks on the ball joints and lubed them also. So I made a quick video. Also have one of our progress so far. Kim
  21. Here is the one I put in It's a B and M.
  22. I used two of these on the ceiling, one towards the front center by the stove and one centered over my table in the rear. I installed them in switched fixtures from eBay. Plenty of light to read and live by. Just a great improvement. Kim
