  1. Yes the regular RV furnaces are exactly the same as a home furnace. Burns outside air and releases it outside. Heats inside air and recycles it. Many complain about the heat vent outside as being heat loss from your camper but it's not. Just exhaust from the furnace. Linda S
  2. There should be a 12 volt outlet, looks like cigarette lighter socket, in your coach somewhere. We all have them. That one will show your coach battery charge. Someone here that has a Dolphin can tell you where it is. Linda S
  3. So is that really your vin? My Toyota parts place doesn't recognize it and no other vin check place I checked does either. Parts look accurate though and your spring pack is the one where it says WT. WT is the designation Toyota and Nissan used for the dually wheel chassis Linda S
  4. I'll leave it a while. Good reminder to people to look at craigslist ads closely before they answer. I just caught it quick cause the map showed I80 and that's not anywhere near Louisiana. Linda S
  5. No dancing on the roof. If you need to go up there for any reason best to have some plywood to put down to distribute the weight. One person only. It looks in good shape but tiny leaks over the years might have caused damage to the roofing structure weakening it. make sure it's sealed and leave it alone. Ladder No way to tell without looking at it. Those bolts can loosen up also from water damage and just wear and tear from weight. Some people bungy chairs and bikes to their ladders. You don't really know what happened to yours before you got it. Just be careful and aware of the possibility that it can't hold you. Battery will charge more fully on AC power unless your driving long distances every day. Buy one of these. Plug into 12 volt outlet and you'll know exactly how much it charged https://www.amazon.com/INNOVA-3721-Battery-Charging-Monitor/dp/B000EVWDU0/ref=pd_bxgy_263_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000EVWDU0&pd_rd_r=d14c4175-0ef6-11e9-bb8a-e510410a1d5d&pd_rd_w=6Ldr5&pd_rd_wg=ymhwY&pf_rd_p=6725dbd6-9917-451d-beba-16af7874e407&pf_rd_r=SDSEBRG8VCT5WPQW0V26&psc=1&refRID=SDSEBRG8VCT5WPQW0V26 Tires 65 not required. I run mine at about 60 back and 55 front. Some people go less. Even slightly less pressure will give you a nicer ride NO people in the overhead while driving. Not front axle you should be worried about. It's the overhead itself. One of the first places Toyota motorhomes show damage. Made for sleeping not bouncing down the road. Not safe either. You know some weird people Solar I don't know and don't know what model fridge you have. If you can tell us someone here will know the off switch Linda S
  6. Totem did exactly what WME is describing on his Sunrader. There's a thread somewhere here showing what he did I think. Nope can't find it. He had a mechanic do the work so no good pics. Linda S
  7. This place is in Tampa. Sounds like the right place to start your wood search. They carry the Okoume plywood that is supposed to be the best and lightest you can buy for boat building so would be good for you too. very high company ratings http://www.craftsmensupply.com/ Linda S
  8. Scam. Posted in Louisiana but mapped in Sacramento California. Free but fishing for emails and phone numbers. Be prepared for robo callers big time. Or they'll come up with an OK but it's a grand to deliver it Linda S
  9. About a million boats near Tampa so lots of boat repair shops. Call around and ask if anyone will steer you to a top notch supplier for the plywood. About the fuel tank. Toyota didn't put the tank there. Odyssey must have. The 4x4's came with a 19 gallon tank. Also possible that it's a custom tank made by Aero. They did the custom 25 or 26 gallon tanks in Sunrader 4x4's and in 90 they were still in business not far from the Odyssey plant in San Bernardino. A few people with the larger tanks have said they really measured out at 23 gallons. Oh and of course very nice work Linda S
  10. I have 5 lug in front and 6 in the back. In 86 they hadn't done the 6 lug front yet. I have gotten flats in the back and driven quite a ways with only one wheel on a side to get to where I could get service. Some people opt to have spares but space and weight can be a problem. Finding the stuff to make the front 6 lug is expensive and harder to find than the rear. Can't hurt to try though. Just so you realize though, the axle wasn't the problem. The fake dually wheels were. Toyota motorhomes with essentially the same semi floating axle as your 5 lug continued to be made in many other countries for many years. Linda S
  11. Happy Holidays to you too and thank you for your detailed projects that I'm sure many will find helpful Linda S
  12. And we have enjoyed your positive, helpful participation. It is a really great group. Linda S
  13. Poster has not been here in a long time. All pictures on this site can be printed. They become part of the site so be my guest Linda S
  14. I know lots of people have just installed a hook latch on the outside to keep it closed but this one looks pretty close to the real thing. Not sure but it's dark and cold outside and I really don't want to take my door apart anyway to find out. http://www.dyersonline.com/dometic-refrigerator-gray-travel-slider-angled-door-lock-complete.html Linda S There are other locks on this site. Just look for Dometic refrigerator parts then hardware. Outside latches used on the newer models might be able to be added and not look too bad either. http://www.dyersonline.com/dometic
  15. Single wheel with a slightly wider tire to handle the load is not better than a full float axle but it is a viable alternative if a full float conversion is not possible. Your rig was only driven a few thousand km per year. Maybe those were mostly shorter trips where the strain on the bearings wasn't as much. We have gotten plenty of posts here from members whose axles finally gave out at around the same mileage. If you do opt for the single wheel in the back your bearings should be replaced and your axle should be inspected. Not a huge cost and better to start out fresh. Upgrading to 15 inch tires might make it easier to find a higher load range tire to handle the weight of the camper. I believe early 2wd Tacoma's have the correct lug pattern 15 inch wheels Linda S
  16. No one makes any aftermarket tanks for a 1980 Toyota pickup. Your only option is the remove it and flush it and send it to one of those places that recoats your old tank. You really need to take care of this gunk problem immediately. Explains why the 45mph max Linda S
  17. Hope it all works out. Might be a good idea if you do use that mechanic to ask him if he can flush the tank. Not sure about your year but many years the tank came with a drain plug so not that hard to do. In a shop you aren't polluting anything Linda S
  18. He said he had a standard plastic floor covering right now. I don't think I've ever seen one of these without factory carpet. Maybe someone already took padding out and it is getting hotter than normal Linda S
  19. Greg that PDX RV wholesale is a great resource. I used to rely on PPL RV parts in Teas to help people find the parts to fix stuff but they no longer have the superstore that used to have everything with diagrams. I saved that site. Man I wish I knew about that all along. Clearer and easier to negotiate than PPL was. Not to mention they have the blower motor I need. Linda S
  20. Here is the thread where Waiter replaced his blower motor. I don't think that exact motor is still available. I was going to wing it and try to find something that is close. Linda S
  21. My 1986 Sunrader the furnace didn't work when I got it. Squeaked like crazy and motor ran but no heat. Very low miles so the camper had spent lots of years just sitting and southern Cal so no heat needed. Motor was just running slower from disuse. I gave it some use. Turned it on and off dozens of times. On, all the way off at thermostat, wait 5 minutes, then on again. Gas appliances you have to wait a while like a home water heater. Finally got the furnace to light and it squeaked a lot but worked. After a while the noise quieted down too. Now 14 years later it's not running up to snuff again. Sprayed fan post with WD40 and got it working for a while but I should have used a dry lubricant like graphite type spray. Works when it's warm outside but not cold when I need it. Going to buy a new motor. There are ones I think will fit on ebay. Waiter or WME replaced their motor a few years ago and worked out well. Will clean and align sail switch while I'm in there. Linda S
  22. When I finally get back to working on my Nissan Sunrader that is exactly what I will do. Those valves on Nissan's are not adjustable and with the camper weight can be dangerous. On a V6 D21 chassis. Don't know if the earlier ones were set up the same way Linda S
