  1. Buy a new pump. Your probably due anyway. Not that expensive and easy to switch out. If there is really no leaks the problem should be gone Linda S
  2. It's an aluminum sheet over wood. The aluminum can develop pin hole leaks too small to be easily seen. Best to coat the roof with a white roof coating material like Kool Seal Linda S
  3. Just turn the pump off unless your going to use it. I never leave my water pump on. Pipe splits when your not paying attention or out of the RV can be a disaster. Unfortunately leaks are never where they would be an easy fix. Mine started leaking behind the rear dinette where the pipes cross over to the bathroom. I was able to catch it almost immediately though cause I knew something was wrong right after I turned the faucet off. If your on the road and use it this way you will be able to wait until you get somewhere you can really check it out. My friend Tony has lived his entire adult life on a boat or in an RV. His kids were raised knowing to always turn the water pump off. Linda S
  4. I don't quite understand why you would go to a transmission shop. Why wouldn't you have a regular mechanic look at it first. Even if I needed a transmission AAMCO is the last place I would go. I can't count the number of rip off stories I have heard and they especially target women. Please just drive away. Call around and find a real shop that will look at your RV. Independent shops rely on their reputation, not national advertising for business. Look shops that specialize in imports. Linda S
  5. There's wood under fiberglass paneling. We do have a search function on this site. Type in Odyssey and subject, like rot or water damage. Then click on include all words to narrow down results. Linda S
  6. For the cost of a shop to do all those repairs you can buy one in perfect condition. Why do you think it needs a new engine. Linda S
  7. It's an Odyssey and from the look of the front wheels it's at least a 1987 or newer. Looks nice but you need to check a ton of stuff out. Appliances, heater, fridge. Check all walls and roof to make sure it never leaked. Linda S
  8. This one looks pretty close. Has same fittings on ends and is from a Toyota but it's 92.75 inches long. Isn't that what you said yours needed to be or super close? From a 95 T100 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=303952&cc=1278738&jsn=398 Linda S
  9. The vin number is or the truck. Doesn't tell you anything about the manufacturer model, just tells you Toyota info. yeah it's an 86. Linda S
  10. I get the bobsled reference. I have a very steep long gravel driveway. Getting out in the winter is pretty much a controlled slide to the street. I tell people I have a gold medal in motorhome mud skiing. FUN Linda S
  11. Very cool tire find. I've never heard of these before but they look like a great option for a Sunrader 4x4 too. How do they ride on the highway. Darn you. Now you got me thinking. I love a meaty tire and here in rainy Humboldt County Ca getting off of the main roads anywhere can be like being in a mud run Linda S
  12. Dan I see you have your Winnebago listed on in our classified section for the very reasonable price of 11,500. If there's anyone here still looking you should jump on it. No one takes better care of their rigs than Dan. Oh and Dan you can sell your Toyota but I do not give you permission to leave this group. We still need your advice on a million different things Linda S
  13. Increasing the water supply might cause problems cause you don't have the grey and back tank storage to accommodate it. If you have a rear dinette your shower goes into the black tank too. Overflowing that means poopy on your feet. What do you need all this water for. Linda S
  14. Is the tank black? If so it's probably ABS. Easy to fix permanently using ABS glue. Google repairing ABS Linda S
  15. The builder of that very cool Tacoma 4x4 motorhome that was for sale last year in Bend Or officially has a business and is building more. Not cheap but a fraction of the price of any other 4x4 motorhome that I know off. Here is the info. Linda S
  16. What? My Sunrader is mounted on a 1986 Toyota long bed truck. That wheelbase is 112. Toyota hasn't called them a Hilux in this country since the 70's. They are just trucks here. Yes mine is a WT model meaning dual wheels in the back but you don't need that and there were never any 4x4's made with that platform. Just a regular truck should be easy to find but if your looking to go 75+ mph a V6 will serve you better. Redesign of the chassis in the newer ones make the drive slightly smoother too. Linda S
  17. The long bed trucks the Chinooks were put on had a wheelbase of 110 inches. My 1986 shorty Sunrader is on a long bed truck and has a wheelbase of 112 and a slightly larger cab so it's a very good fit. They had the same wheelbase for the long bed until 1991 though so you could go with a V6 model. BUT you don't want any vibration or hard ride? Were talking trucks here. Cadillac ride is not part of the equation and a somewhat stiff suspension is required for off road. The smoothest ride and really good off road handling. Plop it on a 2004 to 2011 Chevy Colorado standard cab. 110 inch wheelbase. That even sounds good to me. Linda S
  18. Well if you still have the 85 Escaper I'm sure someone will know what it is. Linda S
  19. No. The owners manual is very generic and only shows basic information on how to use camper. If you think about it what manufacturer shows you step by step how they built stuff. None that I can think of. There are screws around the cut out or the cab. There are 4 big bolts from frame to coach. You have to get it apart. Then you'll know how it was put together. Linda S
  20. So sorry about your wife. I look at what's for sale all the time and lately it seems very few and far between are out there. Prices have gone up accordingly. Minimum 12,000 and up rom there. Here's California prices https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/rvs/d/huntington-beach-1992-toyota-itasca-21/6825961159.html Linda S
  21. Best bet would to find bajadulce's thread and see if he included pics of removing his. Linda S
  22. I see some potential issues such as fitting to curves, attaching paneling and cabinets on the inside, and the need for more to reshape the roof curve. If you choose to go that route I'm sure we would all love to see the project. I do see the price of Nida-core has come down quite a bit Linda S
  23. They are all importable. Older than 25 years. There is already a flip up front camper in this country that was for sale not long ago. Linda S
  24. Well my GVWR is 5500lbs and my Sunrader weighs 5150 wet and loaded. Is that a cast iron stove on his rear bumper? Linda S Oh and I have a built in generator. I would be under 5000lbs without it
  25. Well either your GPS is faulty, you had one hell of a tail wind or driving south is really driving downhill. I'm pretty sure no one else here has ever gotten 18 mpg with the V6 especially at those speeds. The 13 you got in your Winnebago is the norm. Linda S
