With all this high amp alternator stuff flying about. I hope everybody remembers that batteries have a MAX SAFE charging rate and exceeding that too often will reduce battery life. Most of the vehicles that come with larger alternators do so because they have large loads (radios, winches) to power , not to charge batteries.

Only one thing to do. Fill up the fresh water tank and run cold water from the shower head in to a gallon jug and see how much water you have. Well maybe 2 things, you could measure the tank and see how many cubic inches it is. 231 Cubic inches equals a gallon of water

I remember when I got my Escaper, only 12.3v at the coach battery. Started repairing things and found 4 different sizes of wire between the isolator and the coach battery, 2 soldiered and 2 twisted connections. Just like Bob I went with 4ga and one piece. Afterwards 14.5 at the battery and 14.7 at the alt

The full kit is marked "easy to open" on the new packages. They are the ones that have redesigned. Old stock won't say that.

Another reason to replace the entire valve, is they have easy pull versions. Makes a big difference.

Weight will affect your ability to climb hills, it won't do anything if you're bucking a 40 mph head wind. Just for working on a Toy roof I made 2 sets of working spans. 3 ea 1x8 the width of the roof with an inverted L made fron 2x4 at each end. The 2x4 rest on the edge so that the walls support the weight. The L lip keeps things from sliding off.

When you get to WY, if you see the hwy signs saying "No light trailers" park and relax. While you probley wont get blown over it, will be a slow white kuckle drive. I always see a few trucks who didnt belive the signs and tried to run with empty trailers.

In the good ol days, before we had a car with a/c, desert crossing were done at night when the temps were lower (still not cool). Day time crossings the standard head gear was a hand towel soaked in water and held on with a sweat band. The big deal was "helping" others keep their covering wet. It does work well as the head loses more heat than other parts of the body.

Vinyl flooring works great. Use outdoor caulk around all the edges to prevent leaks. Get cheap Wal Mart carpet runners to keep feet warm. In the event of a major booboo throw them away and get new ones.

Use 2x4 to build in support to the ramp. Screw one on each edge of the rampon the top so that the ramp is self contrained. If you use support legs, they would have to be adjustable for the different terrain.

A Toy will also have a permanent overhead bed, most Class B's you have to make up the bed each night

The Raider will have more room and will be slower. Its definitely lower inside than 6'1", I'm thinking in the 5'10 range.

Some guesstimates' If mpg means anything. 1. Another Toy 13-16mpg 2. A 24ft Class C with a 6L chevy 10-13 mpg 3. A 26 Ft Class A with a 7.4L Chevy 9-11mpg (Ihave this combo) 4. Any thing 30ft + with a chevy 7-9 5. Anything with a Ford V-10 6-8mpg
