  1. Epic! Thank you for the share!
  2. Get some 8 foot 2x4's and span them across the top. Use them for support./your footsteps Its that simple! rusitcandy
  3. GOT IT! I found the breaker switch - that was all that it was! Thanks everyone!
  4. The basic Question is this: Will my atwood furnace cycle (blow air, and try to light) if it is not hooked up to gas?? Does your heater cycle (or try to turn on) if the gas is shut off I replaced my blower motor, and I get nothing, no motor coming on, no nothing. I have 13+ volts at the unit and plenty of gas. I think its time to bring the heater to a =n RV place. Thanks for the help!!! Rustic Andy (toyotabago)
  5. Spent a few nights dry camping (I do mean dry- no rain yet this winter), three nights above hunter liggett, and I did not see a soul until I was driving out Saturday AM. The mission is Mission San Antonio. Andy
  6. Id like to start a list of thing folks use to fix/tighten up/seal their toyota cabins. Here is my short list: Polyurethane Caulk- I pulled out all the old caulking around every seam/window/vent and recaulked it with this stuff. Paintable and way more solid than silicone caulk. It has tightened up loose exterior panel joints well! Gorilla glue. I use it whenever Im working in an interior (behind a wall) area that is loose, delaminated, or just needs general tightening up. Ive used it behind my new tail lights,(gluing in wood blocks for screwing platforms), delammed ceiling around my AC unit, as a pre-filler for loose seam screws, etc. (oh, and its good for blackening your fingers for a couple of days!) Dicor for any roof holes.issues Butyl tape- for so much on the roof- even taping down the edges of thin solar panels, and covering wires/cables on the roof! I used Liquid Roof to recoat my roof, but Im not pleased with how well it bonded to any substrate. Dont get me wrong, its holding up fine, but I can chip it up with a butter knife if I needed to. I thinking theres something out there that is better. Please- Id love to hear what has worked for other folks! Please comment, counter, or add to this list! Andy
  7. Went up to Courtright Reservoir in the south sierras- Free dispersed camping, great fishing, great views!!
  8. That sounds like a doable fix. It probably wont fix the sag, but it should arrest it if you used heavy gauge bar stock. Id put the gasket material all along the bottom of the aluminum H frame, and not just around the AC opening, otherwise you are compounding the sag. You can sand the weld joints flat with a regular RO sander or grinder to miprove the surface so the seal is better. The AC bolts will sandwich it all together Good luck!!
  9. Thanks for looking that up, but I need full light set, so where is the best place for replacements? What parameters do I need to consider when ordering them?
  10. My taillights are rather broken down, oxidized and tired. I assume any larger RV replacement set will do that has stop/turn signal/backup lights will work. Is this correct? Any reccomendations on who to order them through?? Thanks!!!
  11. I just completed this repair! I went to the local metal recycling place and bought 2 1" by 2" by 8 box aluminum bars for the price of the weight of aluminum. (under $15) I presprung them by jumping up and down on them with my legs in two places, while the bars were on 4x4s at either end. They had a 3" defelction across thier cut span of 7 feet. I used a thin flat bar on the roof inside as a "washer" strip to spread the bolting compression surface and bolted through the roof from the underside with 5 sheet metal bolts on each bar. The roof is now dead level where I placed the bars. I ran the bars all the way to the edge. I also ran bars perpedicular between the bars to completely box the roof AC vent hole, The AC is now 1 inch off of the roof level as it is up on the bars. I butyl tape underneath the bars too, and caulked sealed everything. I powersprayed it and nothing leaked If I had it to do over again, I would have put another bar at the back of my AC unit too, There is still deflection there. Heres the crudest of scematics: side-----------------bar-------------------side b b a AC Unit a r r side-----------------bar--------------------side Good luck! Its doable!!
  12. Hello all, Please forgive the newbie questions. I appreciate everyones knowledge and prior experience! Anyway, my question is essentially this- Running the generator while driving seems like such as waste. What does one need to do to run your AC off of your engine (alternator) while you are driving? Any tutorials out there covering this? My searches did not reveal any, but Im not sure what keywords to use. Thank you!!!
  13. Hello all, Lots of questions from this newbie!! I had a question regarding weatherization/sealing of my coach. I have a 90 itasca spirit, that looks pretty good, but the 1/32 gaps in the cualking around the windows, edge joints and a few cracks in the fiberglass make me want to go over it. IE scrape, brush out as much as I can, then recaulk. My questions are this- Is this a wise use of time (trying to preempt leaks on an old rig like this)? What should I use? EDPM caulk? Im also going to be recoating the roof with EDPM. Can I save this in the freezer and use in to caulk the windows/joints?? Thank you everyone who has boldy gone before! I appreciate your thoughts and expertise! Andy
  14. Houston, we have a problem. Got a 91 Itasca Spirit on a Toyota V6 chassis. Anyway, We fired up the roof AC, and noticed wetness around the front of the AC, Started looking closer, and it is sagging a bit (3/4” at the worst) deflection around the 100lb Duo-Therm roof top AC unit. Peeled back the thin vinyl, and found some delammed ply (see pic). It all feels solid. Im assuming I need to replace the gasket. Anyone else have done this?? Any tips?? How badly do I need to repair/replace the bow in the roof? Or can I just park it on a hill? Add Jets and beer holders up there and wait for rain? This is a 1” thick roof +/-. Anyone out there ever repaired or replaced thiers? It looks like it’s a whole roof unit thing, no? Also, the roof may need a recover (see pics) Can a get by with a roof recover for awhile?? Thank you to all those who have gone here before through this and have successfully resolved these issues! Your experience (and responses are appreciated! Rustic Andy
