I've had this for just over one year. And this is some of the fun I've had with it.

Don't know if any of you are aware of the capabilities of these things...

It's a 1985 Sunrader 4x4 22re, and I love it!

It's all factory except I regeared the transfer case from 2.28 to 4.70 gears and swapped out the 4.10 ring and pinion for 4.56 gears.

Oh, and the solar system

Maineah That's cheating!

Believe me that's not cheating... I'm sure that's the first motorhome thats been back in there, i've had it in there two times, but I won't do it again it's too rough, but it was fun and I always love a challenge and it was definitely a challenge....lol...

There are some other crawlers in the background of the last photo. Wonder what they were saying/thinking?

They're with me, one of them was taking the pics. We had five rigs that weekend 2 4-runner's, 1-84 Toyota pickup, my Sunrader and a 69 Bronco. I have a problem where I alway have to be in the lead when we're 4-wheeling... Lol...post-8273-0-33684500-1433092157_thumb.jp

It does get a lot of reaction from people when I take it on a trail like though.... I have an 85 toyota pickup set up for the Rubicon and a Polaris ranger that I usually take on the trails..

Could you please go into some detail as to what you did concerning the solar? Im just now trying to figure out how to power cooling the vehicle with solar. I was told only a rooftop evaporative cooler will work. Anyone with any suggestions?

Ellary, you might want to start a new thread topic to talk about cooling the vehicle with solar power. It is really an entirely different subject from someone's personal adventures in a 4 x 4 Sunrader and as such deserves its own focus of conversation centered around the cooling with solar topic.

You were told right. Compressor AC units use way too much electricity to be run off of solar.

I think an evaporator cooler is about your only choice or a fantastic fan.

But I can tell you what I have for my solar it works great for me.

I have 240 watts of Renogy solar panels 3-30 watt & 1-150 watt. I went with this combination because of my air conditioner on the roof it's what I had room for.

A Renogy Tracer 20amp MPPT church controller with the remote.

Xantrex 806-1210 PROwatt 1000 pure sine wave inverter with the remote switch.

2-Trojan T-105 6 volt batteries wired in series.

I got everything off of Amazon and installed it myself.

I live in this during the week where I work and with this set up running an ARB 63qt freezer/fridge, furnace, pump for the shower and washing dishes, 24" flat screen through the inverter a little bit each evening and the LED interior lights my batteries never get below 80% before the solar starts charging the next day.
