tweberglass
I kinda just started pulling up the nasty carpet and could not stop. I pulled up the back area and then decided to repaint the out side. The trouble with making things look better is that the new and improved work makes all the old stuff look even worse. So I keep on going. I painted, stained the cabinets and carpeted, I am now at framing in and putting wood in the back where I pulled out the cabinets a few weeks ago. It really opened the space up. Here are some photos of my work. I hope you like then. I was inspired by user : Buick (thanks Buick) but I don't have the budget to lay down all the wood that he did. Here is a link to his work: http://www.toyotamotorhome.org/forums/inde...p?showtopic=940 I just might do it on the Sunrader that is in my second picture. I hope you enjoy these- Travis Heres how it started Did you know they smell eachother butt when greeting ? I did not remove all the cabinets because I did not want to remove the frig and heater on this one but I managed without. It was a trade off, making the new carpet more difficult to lay down. this carpet was gross. Completely laid down with adhesive too.... why? it that original done by Chinook? For a minute I thought about paper mashaying the whole thing. Hehe! the glue held down many strains of carpet. I had to pull them by hand using pliers. Not fun! tweberglass
I guess I am only allowed so many pictures per post. eww! the foamy insulation needs to be covered up with some more stained vaneer. hardware will be replaced These aluminun rims are oxidized to crap. I am working on that can could use some tips . After staining an Ebony color. before Ebony stain after Ebony stain. we prefer darker wood seems to make the vaneer look more like real wood Edited August 25, 2008 by tweberglass
tweberglass
And the rest! I hope to do a job like this to my Sunrader as soon as I am able to sell the Chinook. I need to open u some space to work. After I found the Rader I just can't see keeping the Chinook. As much as I love the Nooker I am gonna have to left her go to someone with less people in their family. 3 people in a Chinook is tight! One of the last things I will do is replace this plastic trim. There are cushons that go over the carpeted benchs Before framing Begining of framing for new vaneer that replaced the cabinets. I will leave this area as open space to be customized by the new owner. I really like the space opened up. Nearing completion Edited August 25, 2008 by tweberglass

fisherman120
I am also doing some work to my Chinook and i was kind of wondering what kind of stain you used and if it went on ok? I didn't think stain would work but it looks pretty good in your pics. Edited October 7, 2008 by fisherman120
Haleth
Hey travis (I think that was you name if I remember correct) I checked out your chinook before the conversion about a year ago. Its looking pretty good. Did you end up fixing the mechanical issues and selling it?
Gulfstream Greg
Really nice work. As a side note a newsprint type paint job here in Santa Cruz would fit right in. Keep us up to date!
shandamac
Looks great T! I'm sure the "Nooker" is most grateful. It's a good thing you do shanda
andyman4
Hi, I admire you perseverance as you have no garage. I dont think I could have tackled that without loosing interest. I have a 76 chinook and took out the right couch bed and rebuilt it, and was not impressed with their build quality. good luck
george101
Did you end up ripping out that white foamy material in your closets? I have a mess of that stuff and I kind of want to rip it out just because it's kind of gross, although I'm not sure what I'd put in to replace it.
