  1. I put some water in my fresh water tank for the first time and found that it has a small leak because it was not strapped down very well. So over time it rubbed against the head of a screw and wore a small hole in the bottom. I am hoping to reseal it instead of purchasing a new one. On the top it seems that someone has modified that tanks because a circle about 2 inches around was cut out. It was sealed with some kind of tape so I would like to fix that too. Any recommendations for both fixes? Thanks Travis
  2. hehe, that was some nice contradicting info gave you. brings up a good question. Whats better ...new and unknown or old and functioning properly?
  3. Thats a nice way to test the sender Maineah. I need to remember that. Oh, in my opinion you would want to check the sender before replcing the thermostat. I am not sure if that was mentioned or not but I don't want to crack open the seal on the thermostat unless you have to. But if you do, it's easy, and then you know the thermostat is new. But new doesn't always mean good. I just finished trouble shooting jeep cooling system with a brand new faulty water pump. The impeller broken and it didnot even make a sound because it was some sorta of a plastic impeller. Bummed me out. Even my mechanic, I had to bring it too out of frustration, told me the new pump was fine. Looked fine, sounded fine but wasn't pumping a drop. well anyways, try the sender first to save youreself some time:)
  4. I just want to clarify. Your not getting a reading at all anymore right? When you said the reading is all the way to the left ? Does the needle move a tiny bit from cold to hot? Did you notice the radiators temperature getting hotter and hotter since buying it or have you just noticed it is hotter then you would like it to be since you started paying attention to it? keep an eye on the water pump for noise or moisture on the shaft. Waterpumps can go after a vehicle sits and then starts moving again. Probably not your problem but worth paying attention too. It very well could be within normal operating temperature and your temperature sending unit has gone bad. It is a very inexpensive part to replace and is as simple as unscrewing and screwing in a bolt. I recommend buying the sending unit for less then $10 and changing it out yourself. Then you will atleast know that the device checking the temperature is doing what it is supposed to. Then you might get reading and it will tell you if your to hot or not.
  5. Hey, have a look at this blog. This couple made their own toyota camper from scratch. I found there blog from a link someone else post on this site.(I think) Anyways, there blog has a nice step by step of the entire building process. It was pretty well documented and her writing was really enjoyable. Plus there is plenty of pictures. I thought you might enjoy it as well, since your entertaining that idea of starting with a flat bed. If not, I am sure the blog will help you with some ideas or something. Well, here is the link: http://thesupercamper.blogspot.com/2006/09...oncept-and.html Good luck with your project! -Travis

  7. And the rest! I hope to do a job like this to my Sunrader as soon as I am able to sell the Chinook. I need to open u some space to work. After I found the Rader I just can't see keeping the Chinook. As much as I love the Nooker I am gonna have to left her go to someone with less people in their family. 3 people in a Chinook is tight! One of the last things I will do is replace this plastic trim. There are cushons that go over the carpeted benchs Before framing Begining of framing for new vaneer that replaced the cabinets. I will leave this area as open space to be customized by the new owner. I really like the space opened up. Nearing completion
  8. I guess I am only allowed so many pictures per post. eww! the foamy insulation needs to be covered up with some more stained vaneer. hardware will be replaced These aluminun rims are oxidized to crap. I am working on that can could use some tips . After staining an Ebony color. before Ebony stain after Ebony stain. we prefer darker wood seems to make the vaneer look more like real wood
  9. I kinda just started pulling up the nasty carpet and could not stop. I pulled up the back area and then decided to repaint the out side. The trouble with making things look better is that the new and improved work makes all the old stuff look even worse. So I keep on going. I painted, stained the cabinets and carpeted, I am now at framing in and putting wood in the back where I pulled out the cabinets a few weeks ago. It really opened the space up. Here are some photos of my work. I hope you like then. I was inspired by user : Buick (thanks Buick) but I don't have the budget to lay down all the wood that he did. Here is a link to his work: http://www.toyotamotorhome.org/forums/inde...p?showtopic=940 I just might do it on the Sunrader that is in my second picture. I hope you enjoy these- Travis Heres how it started Did you know they smell eachother butt when greeting ? I did not remove all the cabinets because I did not want to remove the frig and heater on this one but I managed without. It was a trade off, making the new carpet more difficult to lay down. this carpet was gross. Completely laid down with adhesive too.... why? it that original done by Chinook? For a minute I thought about paper mashaying the whole thing. Hehe! the glue held down many strains of carpet. I had to pull them by hand using pliers. Not fun!

  11. Hey Huxz, I got a question about the high low idle problem your having. Is the problem that your idle speed goes up and down? Sorta reving on it's own? If so then it is most likely an intake manifold leak. I had that problem before. The idle had a mind of its own. If you spray some carb cleaner down around the intake. You will notice that the idle speed will raise up if you have a leak. Replacing the gasket will solve the problem. Good luck! - Travis
  12. The magic erasers on not abrasive at all. The have the texture of a foam ear plug. Super soft and smooth. The name magic eraser is perfect because when I first picked them up I thought they can't be that great they are so light and soft. But the just plain work. They wipe away dirt, grease stain, scuff marks almost anything I tried it on with ease. I used an abrasive sponge of a few spots with much force and could not remove the stains. The magic eraser remove them with a fairly gentle wipe. Not even a hard scrub. I used them on the fiberglass of my sunrader. Super happy. I also used them on the canvas of my Chinook and it worked so well I couldn't believe it. Anyways I am not a sales person for these things just trying to pass on the good word. Is for the pinstriping I think Moosepucky has the good info on that.
  13. Here is the link : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/toyota-sunr...sspagenameZWDVW I don't know any of the details. Thought people might be interested. Just dont shoot the messenger. It says it has some problems. I sure wish the seller wrote more about the Rader. I really dont feel like calling. If anyone does find out the details...it would not nice to hear what problems it has.
  14. Hey Travis.

Your little 81 looks great without the stripes. I'm thinking Sadie should go stripeless too. How hard was it to do?
