Although I do not own a Toyota RV (...yet) I am nuts about chinooks. I have been looking for over 2 years but have yet to find one in good condition that is local enough for me to snag.

  1. I think it sold for 1850 or something. Not too bad if it is in good mechanical condition (the inside... not so much)
  2. I know with 2 hours left to bid, this might be a bit too late to contribute. but I checked the buyers history. here is the original condition of the "chinook" He must have bought it, slapped on a new paint job and is hoping to get a quick turn around (though I would still buy it if I were in texas!). you can also see in his history that he bought some of the decals as well if you don't think this is the same one. http://cgi.ebay.com/...ht_16107wt_1170
  3. Insane build man. Excited to see the interior when you're all finished -Lance (awesome name by the way; I swear I'm not biased)
  4. This is just my last attempt to make it so this post wont die.... I'm sure there are some people out there who have other ideas about putting a chinook coach onto a 4x4
  5. Very thorough and certainly a lot more technical than I obviously can handle myself. I'll make sure to keep this post in mind when I finally have the money/time/knowledge to do a project such as this. However, i'm sure there are other methods To make a 4x4 chinook and would love to get as many of them posted here onto one thread. Keep posting!
  6. I've never seen a permanent/mounted toilet in a chinook before, only "portable" chemical toilets to stow away. That being the case I don't have a definitive answer but I would imagine that you would have to fabricate your own way to cover the hole. Just because I'm too into these chinooks would it be possible to get a picture of the toilet; I'd like to see how it is done.
  7. I'm looking into buying a chinook (actually two, but one is a 'junker'). The point being is that the decent 1976 chinook had the roof pop up while driving and tore off. There is damage to the top and the canvas, but the main coach is just fine. The sellers are also offering a '74 chinook that has a decent top and canvas that I was thinking about switching over. Additionally, the top vista window is broken in the 76 but in tact in the 74. The chinook bodies look to be the same but There might be slight differences I might have missed. -Would the top from a '74 chinook fit onto the coach of a '76? -Would the vista window (Forward windows above the cab) from the '74 fit into the '76?
  8. Upon searching the discussion board over the past 4 years I have noticed that a lot of people have asked about turning a Chinook into a 4x4. I've noticed that nolan's 4x4 required chopping the frame yet others say it is just a simple swap. Seeing that I am looking into buying a chinook I am now curious. Does anyone have any knowledge (not speculation) about what it takes to turn a chinook into a 4x4? -If it really is as simple as replacing the longbed with the chinook coach, what years of toyota's allow for this? -Are there any other possible conversions worth mentioning?
  9. Hey travis (I think that was you name if I remember correct) I checked out your chinook before the conversion about a year ago. Its looking pretty good. Did you end up fixing the mechanical issues and selling it?
