  1. I have jumped thru all the rings of fire, filled out forms, clicked on the link supplied, received a welcome bla bla bla. & I still can't sign on. I am on at least a dozen other forums & NEVER had so much crap .......I AM NOT applying for a government job....ye gads ???????? What's with all the security/ I only want to sell a Chinook & the buyers ad runs out in 6 daze.. I am completely lost with all this bull$hit..Donnie Is there a time delay, like a 3 day wait until I pass all the security checks????????????? really annoying Thanks Linda, for all your help, but I am getting nowhere....maybe there is a delay in processing the member request. Or a committee must meet and review my request. I'll try later, there's not much else that you can do..& I have done EVERYTHING that you suggested at least three times...Just wait, I guess

  3. I just got a reply from Greg telling me that the 2 boards are separate. I already knew that. I READ it several times. I am still not getting the answer that I need... WHY am I not getting accepted? Thanks Linda for sending my question on, but I am still unable to get on...Greg's answer is redundant as I read the information on applying SEVERAL times ....am I out to lunch?............. donnie
  4. Will some one please tell me how to register for the classified section. Should I use the same info that I use for this forum? Should I create a new name & password? Linda said that the classifieds are controlled by the same person that owns the forums. I can't see why I keep getting told that my info. is incorrect.. frustrated, donnie

  7. There used to be one of these being used as a camp about 30 miles from me.. I left MANY notes on the door with my contact info, but it never happened...... I love those Ultra vans...there is a club, but their membership consists of dedicated owners, who are not interested in selling Unless you are willing to mortgage the farm.... big laugh... donnie
  8. Please use something to absorb the coolant from the street.. Engine coolant is DEADLY TO ALL PETS, and their death is not instant. They suffer terribly before they die................ donnie
  9. If you take your drain plug into any auto supply store, they should have an assortment that you can pick thru..My choice would be copper, although "plastic" seems to have replaced copper........either will work, Donnie
  10. Thank you, Linda........... Donnie
  11. I don't really know the correct spec for this, but approach it like you do on your oil pan...Snug, but no gorilla tugs.. There are no opposing forces trying to remove it . if you are using the same washer, just make sure that it is tight...sorry for the lack of a correct response, but I never looked it up Sort of an acquired feel........ donnie
  12. Can anyone tell me if the classifieds at the bottom of this page is connected with this group? They are asking me to register/ sign in/ bla bla bla??????? Am I not signed in? if not, who is this? ... I only want to correspond with a "wanted to buy" advertiser.. Another question: I am looking to sell a Chinook, is it against the rules to mention it on here... Donnie
  13. Brake calipers are not difficult to rebuild if there are no broken metal parts..Not sure if anyone has used partsgeek.com but they had a waterpump for my 1951 Willys wagon for 39 bux, when napa wanted 90 for the same pump...not sure how they are on Toyota parts..worth a look...Donnie
  14. My wife is thinking about selling her Chinook or trading for something like Zach had.. I would have bought his truck, but another 1500 to transport it here was too much.. She really wants a domestic camper van with a high top & a side door, basically to have the side doors open to do vintage flea markets. She will be able to use my Chinook to do music gigs that are far away as long as I am not using it..& a different van for the market I guess I will have to check into the classified section....any help appreciated as I have not used this section before.............donnie
  15. I think I sent you info on as Hanamog (spelling)?? a couple of years ago as it was in NYstate, not far from you , I think, I know that you took a pass on it..........I wish now that I would have bought it...........they are neat vans....... donnie
  16. Not sure where yo got the 1700 bux figure, but none the less it is a cool rig, wish it were stateside...transport would be a deal breaker.. I like French vehicles, have owned many, but this one is cool.. thanks for posting........ donnie
  17. My 4104 bus had a water heater that used engine coolant circulated thru the tank to heat the water as you were driving. Also my Cortez used the same method.... Both of these worked quite well. I'm sure that this method has been used elsewhere. Any good fabricating shop can build the tank for you & the plumbing part is not that difficult either...Donnie
  18. I Think it is cool to add art to the otherwise dull interior of motorhomes..Wood paneling, conventional window covering, etc. bla, bla, I myself find very boring. Although I am not a big fan of decorative duct tape.. I do add a lot of art to the interior of any coach that I have ever owned. I plan on doing the interior of my Chinook over the winter. Donnie
  19. I am in the process of installing a 5 cyl turbo diesel into a 1972 E300 that has a Shasta Camper body on it. It looks like they chopped the rear off of the van & dropped a Shasta trailer on it. Under neath you can still see the Econoline floor, fender wells etc. Excellent low mileage truck. I installed the engine & trans as a complete unit.. In my research they started installing these Shasta's on Ford E300's in 1970.. I have gained considerable weight as the engine is a bit heavier than the 302 that I removed.. The total truck length is 17 feet bumper to bumper..The 3;73 gears are way too tall, so I am trying to figure out the ratio that I will need to accmodate the 16.5 tires & the xtra weight.. I am thinking 4:56's...may not be enough?? It works out on paper, I am using a pushbutton to select 1st gear as these transmissions start out in second gear unless you really come down hard on the throttle..If you have any additional advice or info, please comment..........donnie
  20. Hi Zach, I find it interesting that no one has asked you what you are planning to do with your current Chinook if you choose to do the truck / trailer thing............ but I will, My wife loves your Chinook & is planning on offering her pop top for sale as she wants a full size door, A muscular disorder is making it difficult to enter & exit her truck.. SO< I thought I would ask> just wondering, Donnie
  21. BE DON, transmission rear seals come with & without the dust shield.. He simply chose the less expensive of the two.. Also my guess is that the garter spring in the seal may have popped off if he drove it in with a hammer & not a seal installer. When using a hammer to drive in a rear seal, or ANY seal, for that matter, that has a garter spring.. the tech should pack a bit of grease in the spring area to keep it in place as the hammer blow can cause the spring to pop out.. Vaseline will work for this purpose.. I'm thinking that he chose to blame the rear extension gasket to be the leak...either way this repair is a very simple task & in no way should have failed...........choose your technician with care....ask others if in doubt....glad you're on the road............donnie
  22. Why not install a temp sender in the pan too & leave the one in the cooler line---- connect it to a double throw toggle switch, then you can read the working temp that the trans is using>>> flip the switch to read the cooler return flow.. Then you can also see how well your cooler is doing??? donnie
  23. Gary, if the bushing that you are showing in your photo is the one that was replaced in your trans, I would be suspicious that the yoke has some wear also. Was the yoke replaced? Or just polished? Are you still experiencing a LEAK ?........If you have no leak now & the unit is shifting correctly..YOU ARE LUCKY..donnie
  24. Others have [pretty much covered it..pun intended, .mismatched parts, front bearing retainer wear, pilot bearing, cable or linkage, not familiar with your app.so I can't be specific....Did you mention the name of the parts that you were using? I may have missed it....Did you get a complete kit or mix & match? I would be interested in the name of the manufacturer of the parts used........ donnie
  25. Why not get a thread gauge & measure the threads on your filter adapter.. Take this TPI (threads per inch) information to a Napa store or a store where there is an older counter person who is willing to help you. My opinion on young counterhelp in these chain stores is" if it is not on the screen you are SOL. WHO'SE NEXT????????? Maybe even clean up your old filter & take it along.......... donnie
