I assume a 5-speed swap involves a flywheel swap too. Is this possible with the engine in place? If possible, would it not be just as easy (or easier) to pull the engine?
That would simply lead to 2 massive threads with good stuff lost in them.
I'd just like to encourage people to group all their 'fluff' here (oil changes, beer drinking, etc) but start a separate thread for more 'meaningful' (hard to define) accomplishments.
An example that comes to mind would be Karen's Sunrader 'build'.
Oddly enough, I've been thinking (since this thread started 23 pages ago) exactly the same thing. There's so much good 'stuff' posted along with the fluff. But I know I'll never go back and read them all to find it. Finding the correct search terms might find it. Or not.
If I was looking for a shop to make mods like you are, I'd ask guys driving jacked up, modded offroad Toyotas. It's not every mechanic who's used to making stuff not originally installed work together.
In my case, not so much "not accepting" messages (which implies a conscious decision) as having a full inbox (50 messages).
Perhaps Greg's is full too. And perhaps the upgrade will allow more.
Though I don't own a plane, I do have 3 chainsaws, 2 generators, 2 lawnmowers, 3 snowblowers, a leafblower and an edge trimmer. No catalytic converters on any of them.
SOA is going to give you a (relatively) massive* lift at the rear with no way to get anything near the same lift at the front.
