  1. Anyone know what I should get? I need to get the new shocks in and, in the past folks said I should replace the springs, bushings, and shackle bolts while I am at it. Thank You!
  2. Rear shocks, do I need to take the tires off? I just watched a YouTube video where the guy did NOT take the rear tires off. He just inflated the air bellows, removed the shock, put the new one on at the top, the deflated the bellows until the holes matched up. I would prefer to go simple - can I do this without taking the tires off?? Thanks Again!
  3. What is a BFH - big f'n hammer? I have the rest of the tools. It is oddly clean under there. I can start spraying the bolts and watching YouTube videos. I may just stick with the shocks for now. They look like they are a billion years old. Any torque requirements on the new shocks, or just crank the bolts? I really appreciate everyone's knowledge and experience here!
  4. Thank you guys so much for the great info!! I could do the shock replacement myself, but replacing the springs sounds a bit more involved - or is that something pretty simple?
  5. I know there have been a lot of posts on this topic. I have some specific entry level questions (I have a 1991 v6 Sunrader 21') as I need to do something to increase my speed going over gravel forest service roads (I can go about 2 mph, seriously). I know there have been no repairs/upgrades/maintenance to my Sunrader's suspension since she was born in 1991: 1. Front shocks - what should I get? 2. Back shocks - I have air bellows that seem to hold air. I was going to get them "serviced". Should I upgrade them? 3. Since I have rear air bellows, I also have shocks back there, right? If yes, what should I get? 4. Stupid question for sure - struts versus shocks, what do I have? 5. How difficult is the shock install - I have a million things going on and don't need another project. If I have someone install them, any ideas on best shop - toyota dealership, tire shop, etc? 6. Can I get my Sunrader lifted to allow for a tad more clearance? Thank You Everyone - I know I could *try* and answer these myself, but there is way too much knowledge in this group to think I could answer these better than this crowd! Kristen
  6. Hi Wadingthroughlife, everything was easy EXCEPT the main power lines were too short so I had to extend them. The wire gauge is large, so I needed a special connector then had to shrink wrap that connector seal. Other than that - it was a snap!
  7. What's the difference between radial and biased ply, what should I be running on my Sunrader, and does it matter?
  8. Thanks so much Linda!! The Coker tires is pretty nice. Honestly, all the tires seem expensive right now - perhaps due to Covid. I will send before and after pictures when the tire project tis done!
  9. Hi All - It's that time of my RV's ('91 Sunrader 21' 6V) life where I need all new tires. I need tires that work well on basic forest service type roads (gravel, dirt, slight bumps) - so looking for more of an all-terrain tire. I know that the Hankook RA18 Vantra LT tire is the go-to tire - anyone know how these tires perform in the basic "off-road" setting? Also, has anyone used the Maxxis UE-168 tires?? I am leaning towards these tires as they seem to have a bit more of an all-terrain tread. We tend to have to drive long distances on these types of road to get to our camping destinations.
  10. Thanks everyone! It took a fair bit of time to swap out the converter, primarily because the hot and ground leads were not long enough and I had to extend them. Due to the gauge of the wires I needed to use special connectors that required a shrink wrap and my heat gun was broken. I got a new heat gun and (after contacting Progressive Dynamics - they promptly sent out the wire) I received the 4 pin wire. And, yes, that wire is only for the Charge Wizard.
  11. Thanks Linda. I will do that. While I navigate that process and wait for the wire, I installed the converter. Do you happen to know if it safe to use my RV? Is that wire integral to the safe charging of the battery, or is it was of the battery wizard feature?
  12. I am upgrading my old Power Center to the Progressive Dynamics PD 4645V. They didn't include the 4 pin wire. CAn I safely operate the converter without this wire? It is the wire that goes from the converter to the DC fuse board. Thank You!!
  13. Does anyone have any idea where I can get window weep hole covers for a 1991 Sunrader? Thanks in advance!
