  1. No it can and probably is the radiator. If it's the original a very good chance it's not flowing freely through the whole radiator. I was sure mine was fine even though it was getting hot, very hot. Almost replaced the fan clutch but then I had someone test it with one of those electric temp test things that you can wave over the whole thing and find cold spots. Sure enough there was a whole section that was clogged. Got a new one and never even gets up to the middle now. radiators are cheap and easy to switch out. After thermostat that is always the next thing I would do know that I know how they can go bad Linda S Yup just checked and the 84 toyota truck brochure shows the efi engine available only on the sr5 model
  2. Yes the first one asked on this web site about it. I hate to tell you but unless the person you sell it to is a pretty good mechanic the cost of replacing the axle can exceed 2 grand. Maybe more. And that's only if they can find the right axle. Not a lot of them around. If the second guy is interested I would try to make the best deal I can. At least your being honest. I respect that a lot. I would have a hard time nailing down a price. For the fixers it's basically what someone is willing to pay Linda S
  3. There are Dolphin brochures on the toyota-campers site at yahoo groups. The 84 dolphin specs for the 300 model say dual holding tanks. Someone may have replaced yours in the past with one larger one but your going to have to get under there and figure it out. Sorry I tried to copy that section and post it here but PDF file won't let me do it. Join group and look here http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/toyota-campers/files/Coach%20Manufacturer%27s%20Information/Owners%20Manuals%20and%20Brochures%2C%20Etc./Dolphin%20%2B%20Seabreeze%20%28National%20RV%29/Dolphin_Seabreeze%20Sales%20Brochures/ You can see nice pics of what your camper looked like new Linda S
  4. They were made but not put into the trucks until 85. I think he's mistaken too Linda S
  5. I use the push on fittings from blueline. Started out with the standard ones but will never go back. These are much easier and they fit nicely. never have had an accident. This is the large kit. I bought the small one with one 10 ft hose and then bought a separate end cap that's better than the one in this kit. Camping world has them. Not cheap but I've had mine a very long time. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/blueline-ultimate-sewer-kit/31212 here's the better end cap http://www.ebay.com/itm/Prest-o-Fit-1-0005-BlueLine-RV-Sewer-Hose-Pushover-Termination-Cap-/121025021120?pt=Motors_RV_Trailer_Camper_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2da744c0&vxp=mtr Linda S
  6. Money isn't everything and the world would be a nicer place if more people realized it. My Sunrader is named Baby. I don't think I could just sell her to anybody either. Hoping I can keep myself going for long enough for one of my grandchildren to take her. That would make me happy Linda S
  7. I have talked to you in the past and commented on how nice Sunny was. Looked far newer than it's real age. So sorry about your wife. She would be so proud of you for making sure Sunny had a new home that loved it as much as you both did. Hope you have some great times in your new GMC Linda S
  8. Hmm I seem to remember saying the burnt valve was usually on #6 cylinder. You got it home so drive it a little father and get it fixed right. This place in Woodburn is very skilled with Toyota motorhomes. Many on the Toyota camper site have gone to them and make the drive for all service. One guy drives from Seattle for service. It will get done and you won't get ripped off. A valve job is probably all you need. Owner of this shop is also a motorhome owner. Give them a call Woodburn Automotive Repair Center (503) 981-8247 Linda S
  9. A member of another group asked me to post this for him.Mossyrock toy in with pics Headed out Fri morning for Mossyrock from Washougal, WA. 101 Miles by GPS. Ted and Cheryl Thurlby had put together tis outing but really had no idea how many would show up. Turns out that there was a good turnout with 8 Toyotas and 1 toyota wanaby in her car. Six were there for fri evening and we all went into town on Sat morning. Had breakfast at the church (donation only, went to a very nice car show, watched the Buleberry Festival Parade down the 6 blocks of mainstreet, and toured the craft and food booths. Back to the camping area (private property, Ted's sister and brother-in-law) and 2 more toys and one car showed up for the Potluck dinner. We all had a great time and now we all feel like family with Ted and his sister Barbara and bro-in-law Fred. Photos with names and rigs may be seen at the link below. http://gottheshot.smugmug.com/photos/swfpopup.mg?AlbumID=30978275&AlbumKey=jz6pK\ D Jerry Roseburrough
  10. Waiter yes I was talking about the leveling of the truck. I can't really move just the fridge. My fridge is original 1986 unit with newer cooling unit. Mountainman my fridge didn't work when I bought my Sunrader and block ice in a dishpan is exactly what I used for several months. Worked just fine and a block lasted 4 days no problem. No kids though so fridge only got opened when it was necessary. Linda S
  11. Your lower vent is also your access hatch to get to the plugs and controls. Propane burner needs to be cleaned from time to time. Ya got to be able to get to it Linda S
  12. I've driven to Tahoe over 50 many times. Yes it gets kind of steep but there are trucks on that route too and they are going slower than you. Downshift to second and you'll be fine. Make sure you stay in second for the downgrade into Tahoe too. Long stretch and steep. Let your engine keep you going slower and save your brakes. Linda S
  13. If that's the size marked it's the right tire. max pressure 65lbs? I still would be worried about any tire that cracked that soon. I helped a member not to long ago whose tires were some unknown brand when he had a major blow out. Totally shredded and they were only 6 years old. Linda S
  14. Very off brand. I can't find anything about them and don't appear to be sold anymore except on ebay. Are they the right size for your rig? Linda
  15. End caps are not available anywhere. Many have asked. 2nd battery powers your interior lights, water pump and all 12 volt equipment. There should be some outlets that look like a cigarette lighter plug in the back. You can buy chargers for your laptops and such with those types of plugs. Easier if your an Apple family cause they charge the same as a Iphone. Car jacks are readily available. Really be better if you can find someone to give you a walk through and mini lesson. All kinds of stuff you need to know. Parking level so you don't damage your fridge, inflating air bags, if you have them they must never be left empty. All kind of important or you can really end up damaging stuff the costs a lot. Linda S
  16. Did some checking and apparently Coachmen did upgrade some of their units with the full floater. Even so considering the time that had passed from manufacture date until the very late recall was issued many of them were probably missed. Especially when motorhomes tend to change hands so often. No one was more dilligent than National RV and even they missed a few Linda S There is no correct 5 lug. has to be 6
  17. Well did you look at the axle? Is it the wrong one? Yes Coachman is a big company but it's not the same company. All assets were sold to Forest River in 2008. If the axle update hasn't been done I'm pretty sure your on your own. I haven't heard of a manufacturer doing a recall in all the time I have been on these sites. 10 years or so. Linda S
  18. Yup ya got to have the full float axle on that baby. Look here and click on link to see pics of correct axle hub. Recall wasn't issued until 1992 or so and many of these motorhome manufacturers were already out of business so there was no one to do the recall or even inform the owners. Only National RV, Dolphin, made a serious effert to repair their toyota motorhomes. Linda S http://www.toyotamotorhomes.com/axle_facts.htm
  19. Well I beg to differ on the side to side not being important. My fridge is fine with the front end up a little but not so good front down. But side to side off level is the worst. Out of the bubble dot either way side to side fridge don't work. Linda S
  20. I think it depends on your model as to where it's located but your looking for a little square door on the outside probably with a lock. Here's a 91 Dolphin with the cord out and plugged in. Generators were always optional so many rigs don't have them. Doesn't mean anything is missing Linda S
  21. Body style changed from 83 to 84 and yours is definately an 84. Linda S
  22. Well it's newer than you think. That is no older than 1984 chassis. Look at the title and make sure it says 84 or there might be a problem with it. Some RV's are titled a year newer cause it took a while to build but never a year older. Then pull those wheel covers off the rear wheels and take a look at them. They need to have the upgraded axle. Most Dolphins were upgraded but you can find the info on the main page to this site under axle facts. If everthing is good I'd say you got a super deal. Very low miles Linda S
  23. It looks like I may have been mistaken about Bargman going out of business. I tried to contact them several months ago about the lighted door handles and I never got a response from several emails. I just looked at their website and it does look to be updated since then. maybe it was just a glitch that they didn't get back to me. Have no idea Linda S
  24. The recall was for the head gasket. Blown head gasket will effect more than just one cylinder but this engine also has valves that need to be adjusted and if it's not done they are known to burn the valve on cylinder #6. Is that the cylinder that they are saying is shot? Possible you could just repair the valves that are damaged. They could cause the same symptoms you are experiencing. Is your mechanic a toyota guy. Really makes a difference if they know the issues that this engine has. If valves are not the issues the are al lot of good Toyota engine places in Portland. Engine builders comes to mind. Get the valves checked first Linda S
