  1. This is the cell phone booster I have been considering. It can be mounted on a mast which would attach to the motorhome . http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J14YEHQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=PB9466GOQ4YF&coliid=I3MVNIOGKPK4BR. I am curious what how one would use the information from the clipper battery monitor if you were were parked at a campsite without hooksups.
  2. On these dark Olympic Peninsula evenings I often fantasize about preparing for a long trip in my 1994 Warrior (only 50,000 miles on her so many more to go). I especially like to research gadgets and cool accessories I would install before leaving on this fantasy trip. Right now I am toying wit the idea of a Wilson antenna to boost my phone and internet connectivity, a 100 watt suitcase solar panel set up, perhaps a Yamaha generator in case of emergency, moving my Fantastic Fan to over the upper bed and installing an AC in its place, adding a receiver hitch for a bike rack, figuring out a rack for a kayak. I have a few more fantasy plans but these are enough to get started with. Anyone out there who has similar fantasies about their Toy and a long fantasy trip?
  3. I am draining the water lines in my Warrior using the 4 drain plugs. I pulled the metal rings and got 3 open but on the 4th one the metal ring opened and now I don't have anything to pull on. I may be able to put my vise grips on the plunger and pull but am afraid of damaging it. I don't know what to use to try threading through the hole where the metal ring was. Any ideas how to finish draining my lines?
  4. I am down to bare walls and ceiling now. New floor is in. The ceiling is VERY thin and I am afraid when I put in the Fantastic Fan I will need to shore up the ceiling with braces to get on the roof. The ceiling is much thinner than the side walls which I have cut to put in a cargo door where the hot water tank access was. In planning to reinstall the celing and wall furing strips I am considering using silicone adhesive since it is easier to work with and not so unremovable as epoxy. It is clear that the ceiling cannot support anything hanging down from it so that any wall cabinets will have to be secured to the walls. Any others who have built their rigs back from bare walls?
  5. Cooling fan looks ingenious. Since I live in a cool area (Pacific NW) I will delay installing one since I have MANY new things to install in my gutted Shorty. I am wondering if the Thermal chimney to the top vent needs to be lined with anything special. I don't remember there was anything special there when I tore it out. The aluminum flap must go inside the chimney??
  6. I'm trying to remember what the cabinet looked like before I tore it out. It was only as high as the refrigerator with a workspace on top so for the upper vent to suppply fresh air there must have been a chase built on the rear of the workspace to give a path for the air. The vents are farther apart than the height of the refrigerator so the chase allowed the air in and saved room for a workspace The aluminum sheet attached to the wall must be to seal off the chase from the rv interior. Anyone have a picture showing what the original refrigerator installation looks like in a Shorty?
  7. I have an 83 Sunrader Shorty which I have stripped down on the inside and am planning to install a Dometic 2193 in the space where the original fridge was. There are two outside vent doors from the original and I am not clear if they are both needed for this new model. Now is the time to rebuild the fridge compartment if needed. Any suggestions from others who have put in new fridges?
  8. Luckily I found a combo drip rail-awning rail at my local RV store and even in a choice of colors. For myself I don't think blocking the passenger door would be a problem. An alternative is there is about an 8 inch area to the rear of the door edge where the vent is that might work depending on how long I want the awning to be.
  9. Thanks for the ideas. I hadn't heard about the combo drip and awning rail. I'm hoping I can locate an 8 ft section. Browsing through some gallery photos I saw a picture of a similar installation with the brackets on the cab door.
  10. I want to put a bag awning on my Sunrader 18 ft but it looks like it would take some rearrangement of the door drip rail to have the awning extend over the door. I would also like to put the brackets on the motorhome sides to hold the awning legs but there isn't any room on the cab side of the entry door. Has anyone else put an awning on their shorty?
  11. Great Seamus - Let me know your free dates. We will look forward to seeing you. Nancy
  12. I wanted to put out feelers for any members who may be interested in a Toy-In in the Cool Arizona White Mountains. The rally would be held at Arizona High Country Campground which is located off of Hwy 260 between Show Low and Overgaard. Full hook-ups are available as well as Wi-Fi. The web site for the campground is: www.arizonahighcountrycampground.com. If interested please suggest some dates and we can get started on planning.
