  1. There are a number of obscure manufacturers that no one remembers. There might have been another company calling their campers Newport but it's obviously not the Chinook Newport cause they are all fiberglass. This one has dual wheels in the back and they are not the good ones. Your much better off with single wheels Linda S I saw an old one off the highway in Arizona with the cab over but a completely rounded rear end like a canned ham trailer. I have never seen another one like it and I look at thousands of Toyota motorhomes every year. Still wish I had pulled off the highway to look.
  2. He's only talking about a hitch carrier with some camping supplies on it. He's got a late model V6 Dolphin. Yes you should be able to add a hitch and carry that much. I use a hitch carrier for my Zodiac type boat and motor. Everything including carrier weighs about 150lbs. As far as where it's safe to weld and the strength of the reinforcements I can't answer but someone here will. Linda S
  3. Aren't you still on the west coast. Weird is normal here. I have neighbors who stop every so often on their walks and do Tai Chi. All good Linda S
  4. An unfinished blog http://www.supracharged.com/swaps/87rv/index.shtml And a thread from here but I don't think it's very detailed. http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4165&hl=%2Blexus+%2Bswap The conversion on yotatech is so old none of the pics are still there Linda S
  5. Look for a little metal ring that you pull up. Can be very hard to see if it's flipped down. If you can't find it the sink and pump will drain the tank fine. That's the way I usually do it anyway. Hard to get down to those darn valves in mine too. After all the old water is out I disinfect mine with 1/2 cup of bleach and refill the tank to full. Let sit for a while then drain and rinse a couple of times. The pump can take a while but I usually do it while I'm packing up and that takes a while too. Refill one last time with fresh water and your good to go. Linda S
  6. What motorhome. What model, year, miles. Are the tires newer, has the engine been serviced regularly. Do all the appliances work. Does it have the correct axle. We need reference points to work from Linda S
  7. I've only seen a few in 10 years of Toyota motorhome ownership. People didn't think to preserve these RV's cause they were pretty cheap to begin with. And age takes a toll. Here's another owner on this site but yours looks to be in much better condition. Sounds like you still have manufacturer's tags on yours . Be nice if you could give us some more info on it. Where made and such. Maybe a pic of the tag http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5386&hl=gypsy Linda S
  8. Yes very cute little rig but not a full floater. Toyota didn't come out with them until 1986 so the only way yours would have one is if a previous owner upgraded it and they didn't. I don't see dual wheels on the back of yours though. Is it single wheels? If so you might be OK. Just need to weigh your rig and make sure you have tires with a weight rating to match the front and rear. I would have the rear bearings serviced just because of the age though. Make sure the tires aren't too old either. 6 or 7 years is the limit no matter what they look like. Your Rec Air cooler works on 12 volt only. Of course if you have a converter when plugged in you will have 12 volt power too. They are now called Turbo Kool and they still have parts for the Rec Air models http://www.turbokool.com/ Linda S
  9. Yup I was on the road like many of our members. And yes I realize reducing file size isn't possible with video's. Linda S
  10. No need to check the date. Those are Bridgestone 603's and they haven't been made since 2002. Throw aways only Linda S
  11. If you haven't used the furnace in a long time they do smell horrible. Hasn't killed me yet. I run mine for a while before I take a trip. You can open the outside door and clean it up some and make sure the outside vent is clear. I still need to replace the duct work on my Toyota. Did my Nissan cause it was ripped up and man it was filthy in there. I just try not to think about how dirty my Toyota duct work must be Linda S
  12. I have a friend who lived in his tiny Sunrader in Los Angeles for 10 years while he saved and invested so he could retire very early. He belonged to a gym and showered there and moved his overnight locations often. Near me in San Jose there are quite a few motorhomes that I see on a regular basis at Home Depot. Sometimes they are there quite a while. Walmarts are RV friendly most places but none in the bay area allow overnight parking. Even so I still see motorhomes there once and a while. Cheap campgrounds in the area are Anthony Chabot lake in Castro valley. Del Valle in Pleasanton, Alameda fair grounds in Pleasanton. These will all be pretty booked up for the summer but once school is back in session they will be wide open. Audiss Rv park in El Cerrito used to be really cheap too but don't know now. I'm sure you'll do fine. Linda S
  13. Is this Warrior by any chance a rear dinette model? A friend of mine inspected one recently that was for sale and found many problems. Sorry you didn't find this site sooner. Always good to shop when your informed Linda S
  14. I don't think it would be a major project to install a power lift system that you could activate from the drivers seat. We live in a world where people have big screen TV's that pop out of the furniture. All the parts to make such a system are probably readily available for any weight Linda S
  15. If it was completely missing they might have thought the air bags replaced them. NOT. Need sway bar too Linda S
  16. There are other swap options. A Lexus v8 has been done. Your exact transmission was used on the Lexus V8 too. I've seen quite a few Chevy 350's. Chevy 4.3 V6 has been used too. Your differential is a tough one. It would be fine as long as your not drag racing Linda S
  17. NO it's an 85 so the rear axle was upgraded by Dolphin in the 90's. They used 90"s axles. Only place you'll see 6 hand holes is an 86 or a rig upgraded by an owner with an 86 axle. All factory done National RV upgrades were 3 hand holes Linda S
  18. There's a Toyota 4x4 shop near me, San Francisco Bay area, that says they do the 3.4 swap all the time. Right now they have a 22re Sunrader 4x4 waiting for them to get started on it. Here's a thread from this site which shows the work involved to go from 3.0 to 3.4. Big job. If you can't do it yourself be prepared to pay some bucks http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4484&hl=%2B3.0+%2Bto+%2B3.4+%2Bengine+%2Bswap Linda S
  19. I have purchased roof vents on Ebay for as little as 20 dollars. If it's that old it's going to crack or leak soon. Linda S
  20. I think it's a lot of work and a project that will be exposed to extreme stress. Making it solid enough to handle the vibration and wind on the road might be an issue. The Pop tops like this are pretty rare too and I personally love to see them preserved. It's worth a decent dime. Sell it and buy one more suited to your needs. Linda S
  21. Thanks Skydancer I was trying to think of what that anti-drainback valve was called. Toyota has it and K+ N doesn't. I spent the big bucks for K+N for a while but my oil looked dirty faster than any other brand. Don't know why but I change mine pretty often and I really saw a difference. Linda S
  22. Is your rear sway bar there? I had too much sway and found out my sway bar had come unattached. Mine drives pretty tight now and I keep my bags at 50 to 60. Linda S
  23. The molded fiberglass cabinets are usually found on 87 and newer models with a rear bath. I have seen them on two 1986 units and one very unusual 1985 Nissan. Only rear bath means never on a shorty either. Yes I wish I had fiberglass cabinets too Linda S
  24. Might be a good idea to reduce the size of your pictures before posting them. Where I'm currently located this is a 5 minute download. Linda S
