  1. I had the same leak in my warrior, it was coming from a leaky base on the top right clearance light. I took it out, Put in a new base over a bead of silicone, and have not seen the leak again. Btw thank you for this thread, I have also torn out a poor re carpeting by the previous owner, and got some good info here.
  2. Well, we just got back from a 15 day trek from sandy, oregon to Alexandria, Minnesota. The path out was through yellowstone, the northern route on the return trip. Average mpg was 14.25 all totaled, with some tanks as much as 20 and the worst at 10. I have only owned this unit for a month, and tried to do everything possible to get it ready, and it worked like a champ. The only issues that cropped up were an inability to stay in overdrive at 55mph in a headwind, and this crying noise it makes when hot and not under load. I think there is a water pump in my future, though it held temp very well, even over the numerous mountain passes. I would say the worst part is getting passed by trucks and big class a's going twenty mph faster than me. It feels like I am going to get pushed off the road!
  3. 3500 miles later.., we are good! Rusty fluid, but it seems to be getting better as we drive. Tackled several passes over 5000' no sweat. Maxed out at 70 mph average with a nice tailwind at 16 mph. No temp problems. Still makes beeping noises at idle when hot, I think water pump, but the temp control is fine.
  4. Yep, new air filter, checked the distributor, and it and the rotor look brand new. Next up, full synthetic all around, then we hit the road!
  5. Prior to the upcoming cross country trip, I decided to change the plugs in the Warrior we bought last month. The first three I got out were ancient Autolites and the electrodes were practically gone. The next were NGK in fair shape, broke two boots getting them off so I put on a new set. First test fire, and wow! It sounds like a whole different engine! Put new belts on up front for good measure and testing the spin on the unloaded components and I think we're good to go. My only remaining concern is that after a 600 mile break in trip, the radiator fluid was quite rusty. I drained and flushed, assuming that this would be the norm for a unit that sat for a while.
  6. Just got back from a Fourth of July weekend in Christmas valley from Sandy, Oregon. Our Warrior did great, though I did have to do some emergency lane driving to let people by on the Mt Hood pass where it is one lane. The kids really enjoyed having an air conditioned space to retreat in the hot, dusty desert, and their good moods made the whole trip much better. I did get the new tires realigned when we got back, as sixty mph was pretty shaky. Much better now. Heading off to Minnesota in two weeks, wish us luck!
  7. Just drove to christmas valley and back, and things went pretty smoothly. Whenever we would get slowed down in traffic, or idle after a long run, the engine makes a hooting, moaning noise. The pitch rises and falls, and sometimes is intermittent. The best description I can give is a hoot, almost like a dove. It goes away when under load. It doesn't really sound like a metal on metal bearing type noise. Any ideas? I am changing out the drive belts this week, so I can check bearing play while they are off. It is the v6 on a 1993 warrior.
  8. Check the pressure and condition of the inner duallies also. We had one that was separating and the ride is much smoother with new tires.
  9. The tires were original, according to the shop. Of legal age to drink, as he put it:) I am learning a lot through this process, building a nice personal relationship with my yoda. Re plumbed with pex, new faucet, thorough cleaning, now on to diagnosing the heater and fridge. Whee!
  10. It is. And we have found problems, but they are our problems now. This forum has been helpful so far, and I sure I will have some questions in the near future!
  11. Bought a 1993 warrior with lowliest. Found out the hard way that it had original tires. The blowout on the inner drivers squally was spectacular. Thank goodness a tire shop stayed open to help us at 6 o clock. Nine hundred in tires later, time to find out why the fridge doesn't work.
