78 Chinook remodel and retrofit

Recommended Posts

I had to pretty much start from scratch inside my Chinook. All the old interior was rotted out. After putting in the new floor and supports and walls, I started roughing in the new cabinets, counter-top, etc. Now has two refrigerators and a built-in inverter microwave. Also a new Walmart bed (converted futon). It's kind of tricky making it all fit. Even worse - finding a way to keep the weight somewhat even on both sides. All the heavy stuff seems to wind up on the driver's side. Two batteries, propane tank, two refrigerators, counter-top, stove top, water tanks, inverters, converter, etc. I'm going to have to rethink things a bit and transfer more weight to the passenger side. I like having the two small refrigerators. One is a three-way British Dometic absorbtion and the other a Norcold 12 volt DC compressor frige. Gives us two options and when only using one, the other can be for storage. I may try to find a way to mount the batteries underneath on the other side to help balance it all a bit. It still looks rough but it's getting there.

Boy JD, when you do a job, you do it right! I'm particularly impressed with what I think is a recessed cabinet knob. Am I right? If so, great idea!

John

Yes, I had to recess the knob due to the bed that flips over and folds out, No clearance for a knob that sticks out.
