stamar
I need to know how to measure for a vent cover From the inside, or the size of the hole it seems to be 14 x 24 Yet I haven't found one exactly that size Thank you for your help Its the large vent in the front cabover area, rectangular is size, not the standard square size. Does anyone know where to get a replacement? What its called?

Derek up North
Hong's and Ventline seem to be 'big players' in the Exit Vent field. Currently offered (plus maybe others): Hong's: 17x24 16x23 15x22 13x20 Ventline: 14 1/2 x 21 1/2 Perhaps contacting your local RV supplier might turn up other sizes. I've no idea how to measure to get the right size.
stamar
Yes its an escape hatch also Where do I measure it?
Derek up North
Sorry, can't guess where they measure. Cutout on the roof? Inside the frame? I guess you might get an ide on the 'Standard' method of measuring by measuring a typical (nominal) 14" vent and see what's actually 14". 84TOYRV
I love my escape hatch vent, over my bed. On starry or moonlit nights, I crank it wide open and do some star/moon gazing. One time, while camping, there were to be shooting stars in the north, late at night. I opened the hatch and watched them, while in my pajamas, from my bed. stamar
well thats what it is its an escape hatch vent, over the cabover bed. I dont sleep there but I can see that it would be nice I do not mind replacing the vent cover with a skylight if thats cheaper. but i still have the screen the box and the vent raiser hardware there. I would prefer the smoky plastic kind. I just moved to portland so if I cant find one i have to rig something. What size is yours? where do you measure it? I just parked next to a dolphin 300 and they did not have one they had a regular 14 x 14 in the same spot so its possible its not standard. what is the brand of your vent cover? stamar
II don't have the old one It is measured on top. I have a feeling the top is the same size as the hole from the bottom I have an idea of cutting plexiglass and gluing it. Losing the vent but keeping the escape part. Totem
no way stamar; you totally need to double moon roof that bad boy... now just need to think "modular" moon-roof assembly... something out of a vehicle that is huge looks good and could easily be transplanted. if you figure one out I'm totally doing it too. it would be the one thing I would cut my roof for. linda s
Great find Karin. Definately a boat hatch but it would look fabulous on a toy home.Like having a moon roof over your bed. Boat hatches are very expensive compared to rv vents. This one probably cost at least 350 new maybe more. Linda S
stamar
Wow that is cool. Very similar mine is squared. That's exactly what I want.
stamar
I don't actually sleep under the escape hatch. So widening it isn't making a bigger skylight. I see it so its nice to see light. But for a moonroof it would be where the middle vent is. Currently a standard 14 x 14 vent. I would love a moonroof. At first I thought car moonroof. But what I want now is a standard house skylight. Glass.
