no keys for battery or generator compartments, no shore power hookup cable?

Recommended Posts

Just bought a 91 super clean Dolphin automatic V6 6 lug National rv built with 60K. came with the Toyota key + spare, A key for the door lock and a small key that unlocks the fridge and tub access doors. the generator and battery compartments seem to have the same pattern, they are locked with no key.(the little key does not fit..should it?)

I bought the dolphin off a guy who bought a lot in a trailer park and sold to make room for his custom tiny home. he said the woman who owned it had it hooked up to shore power and the hose, he really didnt know anything about it, andto be honest I know nothing about RVs this is my first, Ive always wanted a dolphin or sunrader. he said she had it plugged into power and I cant find where that might be? the compartment that says electric hookup with small opening w/ movable flap is empty, Im assuming this is where the shore cable goes? seems it should feed from this compartment into the back of the panel under the couch?.

any suggestions on replacing the key to the battery and generator compartments?

Any and all info anyone might have on hooking up the shore power cable?

What do I need to know to get the battery charging from the car engine generator? the indicator panel says empty. is there a switch on the main panel for this?I feel like I might need access to the battery to troubleshoot this?

I'm down for hacks on keys but not on electricity..any suggestions appreciated.. Thanks

Thise locks are simple compartment locks. They are easy to pick if you want to give it a try and then you could replace it. Most hardware stores have lots in stock. Might give this a try too. Cheater set.

Cheap and some of them might fit.

For the electric cord it's possible it just got pushed in through the hole and the cable is inside there. You have to get access to that under sofa area. A  panel you take off or in my case I have to remove the wood top of the bench to get under there. If you shine a flashlight in the hole can you see in there?

I probably know more than I should about locks, so let me add to that!

As Linda mentioned there is a good chance that it is that CH751.  Look very closely at the lock face.  There should, hopefully, be a number on that face.   Type it into google with something like Rv lock.  Also cross reference the CH751.  There is a Youtube channel (I forget the name, but it is the most likely to come up") that posts pentesting videos and goes into details about this.  I believe RV locks were specifically mentioned in one of their sessions on locks.   If it isn't the CH751, then there are only a handful of common locks that were used for those.   I forget how many are in the CH series, but it isn't a whole lot.  Crap its like 500+, well it isn't a whole lot that are commonly utilized.

BTW that isn't a "cheater" or "master" set, those are all CH751 keys, so all the same exact pattern. The set you probably would want would be these:  https://a.co/d/eveFJH2  The secret sauce is to search for "pentesting keys".

running the engine should charge your house battery if things are still as intended
