  1. John, Thanks, my tow behind camper (holiday rambler) has the bypass feature, I like the feature,
  2. how about the hot water tank? do I just drain it or pump anti freeze into it also?
  3. Hi folks, Any interest in a Michigan Toyota camper meet and greet? I was thinking Ludington State park camp ground. There is a walmart and Meijer in town where you can park for free too. Say early October?
  4. Good Sunny Morning from west Michigan, 1. what is the correct method to drain the water system in a sunrader or winni? 2. Do the toyotas have a city water connection? 3. and then how do you go about saniziting the water system for use? 4. and lastly, how do I go about winterizing the water system including water heater?
  5. hey JDE, before you pull those injectors, maybe you can add some chevron techron to the gas and drive around and see if that makes a diff. I had good luck with techron cleaning up clogged injectors in other vehicles. most of my vehicles are not driven for 6 months to a year.
  6. sky, could you please tell us which bushings where bigger and what you had to ask for (prothane), I am getting ready to order bushings from prothane and want to get it right the first time. Thanks,
  7. I drove around 22 miles rolling hills in my 85 sunrader 22re, I liked it without the OD, just a little bit noisy. ok, question for tranny gods: 1. using OD will it heat the ATF more? 2. OD had locker? or does it slip and cause more clutch wear? 3. shifting in and out of OD, what kinda wear and tear are we talking?
  8. jdemaris had a thread here which detailed power increase and modification done. headers and exhaust is your best bet. look at the toyo crawler forums they have more details there. remember, if you make your downstream free flowing you lose low end torque.
  9. I had tears in my eye, I bought Shell diesel for 2.23 in Cadillac MI. Sprinter van are great for MPG but you will cry if something breaks, some dealerships will just throw parts at it. Here is my mpg. 90 miles @ 65 to 70 mph - 13.6 mpg 40 miles @ 60 to 65 mph - 14.5 mpg my rig weighs 16000 lbs and stand around 10 ft tall. Best part was not mpg but my ability to go up hills and maintain speed.
  10. Can we add steel mesh screen in the air intake before the filter to prevent the rodents from getting in?
  11. agree, I meant a bunk bed in the space where the kitchenette is right now.
  12. typical Toyota damage, I have this, I ripped out all the wet stuff including the open cell insulation. I installed a cover on top if the fan so I could keep it wide open. I keep a window cracked half inch and keep the fan vent wide open. No rain gets in through the fan vent. but some water soaks in through the leaks. But with the fan vent open the inside dries in a day after the rain and it does NOT smell any inside the camper.
  13. timely topic totem, I have a rear dinette sunrader (shorter one). I have not taken out for its maiden voyage yet. But did take my diesel and my 30 ft tow behind camper last weekend. it rained the first day and we were stuck inside the camper and I figured out space is important. I went up some hills going north on 131 toward Cadillac MI and going west on 115. so power is important or lack of frontal area. So for my weekend camping needs, I would say a bare bones Toyota without the front cab over but with a bunk bed in the back and potty and a dinette. I could use a cook top outside to cook.
  14. JDE, definitely my 90 v6 is running rich, my buddy driving behind me complained to me about smelling gas. what would be proper steps to diag the root cause without throwing parts at it?
  15. Hey JD, can you smog it and see if it is really running rich or at min it will tell what is wrong with it. I have the same problem with my 90 winni, My plan of attack: 1. run with 2 cans of techron injector cleaner. 2. check cold idle or what ever it is called sensor. 3. check oxygen sensor.
  16. won't that apply to working folks? retired folks can drive it anytime ;-)
  17. How much are ya asking pls?
  18. Jim, Thanks a bunch, I went through the catalog I think I will get: 1. Rear shackle bushing ( should I get the grease able ones?) 2. front sway bar link & bushing (which size? they have 2)

  20. I ended up getting the bilsteins for the front and rear. I went to Oreillys for the bushings but they were no help, they are not able to order them. can someone pls post part # for their 22RE 1984/1985 Toyota dual rear wheel. I can't figure out which ones I need from this page: http://www.prothanesuspensionparts.com/products/toyota_pickup_2wd_1984 Linda, any chance you have the part # for the rear sway bar bushings? Thanks,
  21. I was heading to toysrus with the girls and a BURSTNER aero van (silver one) passed me heading east on I-96. looked pretty sharp. looks pretty aero dynamic and looks a bit like the ol toyo pop ups
