black smoke sounds like it may be runing a little too riche maybe overchocking that causes excessave gas consumtion loo kat the glass window on the carb at runing idle gas leval should right in the middle of the glass no higher would spray clean the chock e i used too set the mixtur with a portable tac very carfully turnin mix screw little ata time at a warm idletell eng starts too slow then liston and watch the tac as you turn it back out slow at a moment too stablez until you get toohigest rpm you can get on the tac if the idle speed drops you went too far then adjust the idle speed screw if the carb does not adjustgood may need rebuild black smoke is almost certainly a sign of too rich oil burning is usely blue smoke my twenty r minimax get 15to 17 had 20r wagen and truck get that stration out gas miles should a lot better i tend to forget young people maybe not familer wit carbs old like me not with computor lol

Would second that the Dicor sealer is very good stuff i use it on any seems vents there are two grades one recomended for flat surfaces and a grade for vertical surfaces but i have used the horzontal flat surface grade on vertical surfaces ok very good stuff stays flexable

you do not want tires rated load range c those are car tires you need to use only load range D tires wich are 8 ply rated and marked Lt light truck if you are in the western states west half of montana or anywhere west of there i would check with les shaub 480 stores west us they sell a lot of traction tires many of us my self also have discovered that we had car tires they are under wt safte y rating and dangerous to use also highly recomend siping makes a big difference BIG O is also a good company

i dont know colorado i have 1978 minimax the koa in pasco wash state let us stay for a four day deal twice but by the month they said they dont but no problem on a short stay love that age discrimination dont you have heard rumers that the state parks can not discriminate but i do not know if that is true or not

my 1978 does not have control panel only a rocker switich for the pump a 12 volt test light is a 6 doller tool you need if you have power at the pump then probly the pump no power check if fuse does not look bad try a new one anyway glass fuses can look good and not be good workyour way pump on back follow the wires

if there is any other problem check all fuses the old glass fuses can look good and not be good remove one at atime and check for loose ends on the fuses check the wires on top of the gas tank

cant find spec on that the short bed pickup has a two joint drivline the long bed pickups use a three joint drive line i think are about a foot longer i have a 1978 moter home not a chinock and i had a 1978 short bed pickup and the nission or datsun brand beds are a different length then a toyota

Bryan i have owned 2 wheel and 4w drive pickups i have an 1987 4 wheel drive Xtra cab the 6 lug 15 inch rim four wheel drive axle and the whole truck is built much heavier all around then the 14 inch 2wd i run light truck 235 by 15 tires a size many full size half ton trucks use the whole undergear is way heavier i regular use my truck to haul junk metal i had a load of steel on the scale the steel was one thousand four hundred thirty pounds truck road and steered fine i was shocked to find out how much i had on you could never put that load on the two wheel drive i did not hang down on the back but level for those who don't know the 4wd is stock 15 inch 6 lug no adapters if i had that under a 18 foot i my self would probably never worry.
