  1. the water heaters are propane all of the older ones are pilot light type they must be lit . once lit they are automatic, yes heater are gas but they require 12 volt power to run the fan some but not all have to be lit pilot. some are auto ignition.cookstove burners and oven must be hand lit. you find a wealth of healp on here . an. d yes rv rot can be a big thing but you will have to check it out . have you looked at it the most mager safty thing I found this out on here what type of rear axle does this have. did you buy this already. does it have a six lug rear axle. if not I recomend you don't buy it .if you have not payed for it yet remove rear hub cap if only 5 lug axle would need to be replaced . read axle info on here need full floating one ton axle. 5 lug axles brake off bad crash info. under the couch might be a water tank. but there should be a propane tank somwhere
  2. if that shop guy really new his stuff he should of known that you can not mix the 2 types of antifreeze together. but I am very glad to hear that the problem is fixed.
  3. maybe the gas filter is easer on the six . because on the 22re it shure is in a stupid place.
  4. EPDM is the one and only true way to fix old metal roof manufactured homes . common to use on them and rv also. lady down the street just had a 14 by 70 done with that looks great.
  5. I use catch pans to get as much as i can . very toxic stuff.
  6. s wamp coolers work in hot dry low humid climates. not good in high humid places. thanks I did not recall the company . but at 600 cheaper then a new roof air unit. lot of home swampers in use in the hot dry eastern Washington climate.
  7. not familiar with that one but there is a company that makes a 12 volt roof mount fits in a vent hole runs off rv water tank not cheap. I don't recall brand I think linda has one . I have seen one on a camper a friend bought
  8. another old trick for over heating was to roll a ll windows down and turn the heater to max heat and fan on high . gets hot on the people but can drop the engine temp to safe limits.
  9. seems like no matter where you go there are rip off shops . my son got ripped off by a claimed to be trans shop some years ago . dodge ramcharger with an old time 727 torqflite behind a 318. guy rebuilt the trans for 1500 bucks and it lasted 9000 miles. by which time he and his shop had vanached. a good local shop told us we have been fixing all of his work.
  10. do you have a permen et built in tank if so you need to replace the valve. if you have a removable type tank. how old is the tank maybe better to replace that type of tank. cant take chances with propane.
  11. she did say outside of the rv and yes carbon monoxide and smoke alarms a must . I have one each house units from walmart much cheaper then r v approved but they work.
  12. yes that protects your hose and on down the system. that is what I do, that way your hose is protected from too high pressure.
  13. put regulator on spigot. I warned a nearby camper his hose had a large bulge in it . he said he had ruined hoses because he put the regulator on the rv . str ainer ahead of pump .my paper work said new pump shurefloe no strainer no warrenty.
  14. I have friends with almost new pull behinds and they still say two three years old don't work already. my 78 didn't have any. don't need them now on the 87. carry a good flashlight use for all things LOL. goes bad throw it out and for 5 bucks replace it.
  15. wife is going for total hip replacement. so I have already done step 1 to nine of winterizing. I also pull my rv battery as I cant leave my dolphin at my house . seattle may not get cold but the Yakima desert gets very hot in summer . and can get 20 below in winter. not much mold or rust here thou LOL. no rain in 3 months.
  16. does it smell like raw fresh propane . or burned by products of combustion.
  17. nice info I never had a Toyota with that type of drive line . and I never heard of these aftermarket replacement parts. I was able to buy a used early 1970 drive line in a yard for 30 bucks with replaceable u joints. put new ones in and was still in the car 15 years later . had the car from brand new. was finaly totaled hit buy a dump truck drove it 24 years.
  18. yes I had a Datsun b210 with a crimped joint non repairable drive line .but mine was a 1974 and only on that first year b210 you could replace it with a 1970 to 72 drive shaft out of a datsan 1200 with removable you joints. all others buy a 450$ aftermarket repairable drive line.which we put in my sons 1976 b210.
  19. at least on the 4wd pickups my factory owners book and my Toyota factory service books and I also have a Toyota lube point chart oem on the sunviser . that shows grease intervals for the front and rear drive line joints. but I will say I don't think any 2 wd trucks had those type of joints. the 2wd trucks and cars I have had did not have grease fittings on the the drive line.
  20. Cook like the pioneers. We like our old time cast iron. In our house or in our toy house in the woods .
  21. some one will have more info then I do . but I would try to get ones that have grease fittings . not all do . and if you can grease them they last a lot better. my other Toyota is a 88 xtra cab 4wd truck with all grease able u joints.
  22. the ones I installed also came with that blue stuff on them but I put them on with the tank on the moter home I used a 18 inch creasent wrench . but that was on the new parts only. and no cheater pipe. I once twisted the end off a 3/4 water pipe with a 24 inch pipe wrench and a 6 foot cheater pipe on an 18 inch pipe wrench
