  1. Ya got a little bigger one. A 26ft class A, only 10mpg, but it has 6 storage bins and a cargo capacity of 2500lbs and 70 gallons of fresh water with 40 gal ea black/gray tanks. Did a 6500 mile 30 day trip with it this summer. From Wy to ST Augustine Fl and back via every tourist trap we find, including Graceland. The larger storage and freshwater came in real handy as we could Walmart for 4 days before a holding tank dump. The 60 gallon fuel tank is nice too, that is until you have to fill it. WME
  2. The absolute largest Toy house is a late 80's EZ-Ryder. They are 23 ft., BUT only come with the 22re. If your staying in OR. then that won't be a big problem as the 4 cylinder will get you over the Cascades, just a bit slower than your probably used to. WME
  3. You need to define your needs. Running an A/C while boon docking or charging your house battery to watch some DVDs all night. The correct built in will run you $3000 installed. A exterior generator will be $250-1,000 depending on what you need/want.
  4. Sounds like your exposed to a lot of marine type thinking. So treat your SR like a boat. http://www.frugal-mariner.com/Insulating.html
  5. If your serious and can afford the price, this is the one! The seller is well known on the other Toyota MH sites, not a flipper but a refurbishier. Check out the selling feed back on previous units. WME
  6. Another problem with the portable units is all that hot exhaust air going out has to be replaced. So hot outside air is drawn into your toy through the vents and every crack.
  7. Escaper and Sunland have aluminum frames, with corrugated fiberglass siding. While they will still leak if not taken care of at least they won't have frame rot.
  8. First I bought a single adapter and one 6 lug rim. I kept the adapter inside and had a 6 lug rim with tire mounted on the carrier. It takes about 5 min to mount the adapter and get its bolts tight, then you need the proper bolts for your style of rim. Later I found 2 more rims cheap and bought another adapter. It took a while to find the rims because I had the conversion axle and needed a 6 hand hole rim. There is only one size adapter. I got mine from Custom and Commerical Wheels BTW even if you do the conversion to a 6 bolt front end there is still an adapter involved. The 6 bolt hub uses a 6 to 6 adapter to get the rim centered on the front.
  9. Yes, especially at that price. A 6 bolt and cab AC would be $2000. Keep looking, buy the floor plan you want, because you will be stuck with it
  10. I did that for a year until the budget allowed for a second adapter. Then I went 6 lug all the way. Of course I never had a flat.
  11. Installed same thing this summer. LOVE it. Keeps its self so much cleaner and uses less water.
  12. First edition 22r has a 2 row timing chain, new "improved" 22r has a single row timing chain.
  13. BEWARE with the 6 hand hole rims there is a 80% possibility that you have LEFT hand threads on the drivers side rear.
  14. I found clear rv awning repair tape at Wal Mt. So far it has lasted 2 years o a repair on the front overhead .
  15. 6 ply and 8 ply are ratings that are obsolete 2 times over, load range C and D are obsolete 1 time over . The currant rating system is "load index" and you will want some in the 97-99 (c range, 6 ply) or 100-102 ( d range, 8 ply) It depends on how long the guy has been selling tires as to what he will call them BUT you must specify LT (light truck) tires and the load rating you want or you will end up with car tires Some of the tires will be marked 185/14 LT and some will be marked as a 185/14 C, in this case the C is not the load rating but means Commercial. AKA Light Truck
  16. Take the old shock down to an auto store and see if it will cross to anything. New HD shocks for an 83 Toy pickup are hard to find. This is about all I could come up with... http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=results&selected_model=4489&selected_year=1983
  17. Correct size is 185/14LT. Note there is no aspect ratio in the tire size cause its an old design and there weren't low profiles then. Here are some http://www.tirerack....o=0&diameter=14 The C range tire are normally considered "6ply" and the D range/102-100 are "8ply". The VW vanagon camper uses the same tire and their having good luck with the Hankook RA-08 http://www.busdepot.com/ra08 These are "fresh tires" and there a lot more than 20 in the country.
  18. Don't forget the rear spring bushings while your making improvements. Other interesting stuff http://www.rotdoctor.com/test/penetration.html. A little modern science, treat the damaged wood, reseal the windows, seal the roof with a coating and live with the existing damage
  19. OK absolute most low budget way of temporarily fixing a saggy rear end , get longer shackles in the back. It will work for awhile but its tough on the springs long term life. http://www.jcwhitney...t/p2031542.jcwx Also another cheapest way. http://www.jcwhitney...erid=c11305u0j2
  20. http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/ Check out all the stuff for Toyotas espically the Timbren line. The correct thing is new spring packs the shop can add more leafs to make it ride level, they will last 20-30 years Next is air bags they last 10-20 years. Last choice is re-arching your springs and adding some new leafs. That lasts 2-5 years Many times the spring bushings are just wore out and that will drop the rear end 1-2 inches.
  21. The generator basic job is to run the microwave and A/C, if you don't have them you sure don't need the generator. What make is the Roof AC and the generator? Maybe we can give you a guesstimate on value. Replacing the A/C with a powered fan vent is very usable in certain climates. Check http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-vents/rv-ventilator.htm or http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-vents/62466.htm. Think of them as examples of super plush and basic. Adding an additional coach battery and a 100w solar set would let you operate the fan for an extended boondocking season, if you plan driving some each then just another battery would be fine. After spending a month in MS and GA this summer, all I have to say is "Can I have more A/C please".
