That much parallel is never good. About the best you can do is charge them separately until they are as close as possible. After a while of use do the same recharge cycle. This will keep them as close as possible. The best way to charge multi batteries is in series.

Weak battery. It wont spin the fan fast enough to trip sail switch. Or draggy fan motor for same result. Check by plugging in to 110 AC and see if the heater will work OK.

I've posted this before when the 12v A/C "idea" comes up. Newell who makes million dollar and up RVs. Spent a lot of time designing a 12v system to meet customer demand. These customers were willing to pay what was needed, after all whats a $75K when you just spent $1.2 million. Bottom line Newell couldn't do it SAFELY. They got the belts right, a separate giant alternator installed. The problem was just trying to run 200 amps @12v through correct sized cable. The slightest less than perfect connection resulted in overheat and FIRES. Newells answer just run the genset.

Resale value is a strange thing, so do what you want, if you can keep the stuff. That way it could be reinstalled by the F/O. Most buyers will buy some thing the way it is and then make it fit their needs. Removing the bath or kitchen for your personal need would be a much harder "sale". Look at the fixed hard mount dinettes, maybe a 1 person wide version would give you needed storage and a place for the heater duct.

When I had my Toy I pulled a 5x8 enclosed trailer with a 4 cylinder. I've pulled it over 10,000ft mountain passes. So your dream is feasible. But in all honesty the MPG is going to be about the same when pulling the trailer. Also the frame is going to need serious modification to pull the trailer safely. The trailer is going to need brakes also.

You should be aware of a weird potential problem. In a conversion done several years there was an overheat problem on the hwy. I THINK that the Toyota was a model older than yours and had the smaller engine bay. Anyway the guys thought was that the engine filled up so much of the engine bay that air couldn't get out after going through the radiator. A temp fix was remove the splash shield at the bottom of the radiator. May be hotrod style hood lovers would help if this pops up for you. Your larger engine bay may be the answer that was needed

How much oil capacity are you losing with the modified sump? FWIW here is the, big engine into an old Chevy II, answer the hotrodders came up with http://www.ebay.com/itm/62-63-64-65-66-67-Chevy-II-Nova-Moroso-20211-Oil-Pan-Sump-6-Quart-55-56-57-Chevy-/400810772772?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1965%7CSubmodel%3ANova&hash=item5d522f0924&vxp=mtr

See if it fits in the refer inlet. If it does maybe its SHIPPING PLUG. If it is then maybe why the refer didn't work.

It may not be factory standard, but it is a standard design and most likely dealer installed

Generic comments for your generic genset. Make dammed sure you keep it away from the house, a slope away from the house is best. Use a ground stake on the genset. I installed a car muffler on my industrial generator it made a big difference, BUT the engine is still mechincally noisy. A simple sound deflector setup works at home, 3 sides and a sloped roof. I went to a local sheet metal shop and had them make a box with a door, I lined it with a heavy sound proof rubber mat. I put a small 12v auto radiator cooling fan on the 12 output of the generator so when the generator was running the fan was blowing air across the engine fan inlet.
