if the plug isn't in the right place they should reclock it . really easy to do and is standard operating procedure

thats a trans cooler line. i would find something to plug the hose, and something to fit over the nipple after disconnecting . even a baggie with a rubber band. fluid will drain, but not a flood

yes, you can pull the axle out. look inside and you should see a seal with a id of the axle shaft. may have been left out by the po

cowl vents are in front of the windshield. don't know what those are called--hood vents?

should be any bolt with 14mm head. check under the hood for some you can borrow. if they're too big -ones with 12 mm heads

there are 2 threaded holes in the axle flange. find bolts that fit, and screw them in to pull the axle from the hub. might be 12x1.00

looks like it's mounted on the alt.

is the regulator separate from the alternator? if so it is bad. voltage should be regulated to less than 15v

i changed my 84 to 6 lug. many have done the same- only one spare tire that way

be sure to disconnect the negative battery connection before any type of work

you say trans fluid leaking. are you filling at the auto trans dipstick tube? there is no connection between power steering and auto trans. that o ring is left over from someone working on your rig. it didn't pop out of the gearbox

haynes manual shows a thick gasket. if i recall it's about a 1/4 inch

if you like your old gear ratio you can just swap the pumpkins. the diff is the same one used in the pick ups. differences are in the brakes and wheel bearings

propane dealers have special tools to remove the valves. my buddy took lots of them out to use the old tanks for other purposes -
