  1. I installed this gadget today, it works perfectly. No it does not make the motorhome go faster. It is a crank to lower-raise the spare wheel.
  2. I too have that concern. I'm considering remounting the thermostat to the wall next to the bed. That way before getting up on a cold morning just reach over and kick her up a few degrees.
  3. WD-40 also works on breaking down silicone caulk. Let it sit for a few minutes and rub and scrape.
  4. My wife and I were camping at Odessa spring park last weekend on Klamath Lake, OR. The wind came up just as we finished dinner. Around 7:30 we both agreed that we should not stay here. We were surrounded by large pine trees 2-3 foot large. Also noted that 5 trees had blown down over the winter. So at 10 to 8 packed up and started to drive out. Didn't get 400 feet and a 2 1/2 foot tree was blocking our path. Had to call 911. Rocky Point fire department arrived within 45 min and cut us a path. Spent the night at a snow park on top of Hwy 140. Thank you Rocky Point fire department.
  5. Thanks for all the input and compliments. I will make two bungee cords to length for each side and bicycle cord locks.
  6. I put KYB on a 84 Dolphin years ago and liked them. Put 50,000 miles on them. Sold that rig and bought a 94 Warrior. Put Bilstein on it. Very much like them with 19,000 miles so far. look at www.eshocks.com
  7. I'm not sure. Have been thinking of bungee cords but the cans are susceptible to theft then. I do need to have downward force on the cans so they wont bounce. Any ideas.
  8. I completed this project yesterday. We needed extra gas for a upcoming Alaska road trip. Mite as well build a small storage box also. This is what I came up with. Since I try to repurpose material I used a storage box that I had made for me in the Philippines. The box was made on Clark air base in 1968 to ship my belongings statewide. I had the box exterior coated with Line-x. Used 1/8" aluminum diamond plate attached with rivets to the bumper them riveted the box to the diamond plate and screws from the inside of the motorhome to a wood frame on the box. It only weights 17# plus the gas cans. Gas cans are 2 1/2 gallon each for another 35# more or less. Box measures 36" w x 20" T and 12" deep at the bottom. That should give us an extra 65 miles of driving before refueling.
  9. The correct tire size is 185R14. They are "D" rated and can be inflated to 65psi. Look at www.tires-easy.com they have quite a good selection.
  10. That's a cool way of using one WW11 train track. We have done all of that. Even ferried to Kodiak for 8 days. Have not been to Cordova and may not have the time this year. We very much like Seward and Valdez. The Girdwood summer woods fair is great. Corbin, when did you live in Anchorage area?
  11. here's my list this time: not in order and we keep on adding Dawson City-again Chena hot springs clam gulch-dig razor clams McCarthy, Kennicott mine Alaska state fair, big cabbages National Bald Eagle Foundation, Haines Katchimac Bay, Homer Delta Junction, met a guy while camping in Utah, his family own a burger restaurant there Watson Lake, Yukon- hang a sign Suspension bridge, Klondike Hwy #2-from Skagway to Carcross Yukon road #4, Watson Lake to Carmacks walk on another glacier
  12. 2010 my wife and I drove to Alaska 4 months and 10,000 miles. This year we will do it again, only wife says she will only be gone 3 months this time. I have a new list of want to see list. It is my 70th year and I get to go and do anything my heart desires. That is, I want to go to the Alaska state fair in Palmer. Plan on leaving mid June. Is there anyone out there that would like to tag along and become a caravan? How about anyone with exciting sights to see?
  13. Here's the numbers on air bag install. Maybe this will help Mrlope with your question. The rear end measured at the trailer hitch increased in height by: 1" at 40# 1 3/4" at 60# 2 5/16" at 70# I used this pump to increase the air pressure. It took about 30 seconds to increase one bag from 20# to 70#. I am not going to buy a air pressure system to air up. Will use this portable. Bought it at a garage sale for $3.00. I do not know what the original ride height was but from looking at two other Warriors that had the springs re-arced mine was noticeably lower. We are now ready for The Alaska road trip the summer. No I guess not. Still have to figure extra gas storage.
  14. Oh yah, I had to drill 5/16th holes for the self tapping bolts. Started with 1/16 drill bit then 1/4 drill bit and finally the 5/16 drill bit. The two bolt holes on either side of the bracket are at an angle because I do not have a angle drill.
  15. Damn Derek you are observant. Indeed the air bags say " TTT 3-T-s RV Products" firestone emblem I e. Can not make out any model numbers. These bags were mounted forward of the rear end center. They were also way to long. Wish I would have taken a picture. The passenger side was rubbing on my new Bilstein shock, you can see the wear pattern on the picture. They did no mount straight up from the rear axle. The Air shock brand do.
  16. I finished installing Load Lifter 5000 ultimate #88113 by "air Lift" air bags yesterday on my 94 Warrior. It was not a piece of cake, but when the install was complete it looks good. Holes have to be drilled for three self tapping bolts. Not much room to maneuver. When you're a backyard mechanic and working on the ground and over a certain age everything ----you get the idea. I believe the Firestone kit is "no drilling". Still checking for air leaks before installing the wheels. I am considering a air compressor system. Got the air bags from www.sdtruckspring.com . Kit # 88113 is listed for $312. I called and got a quote for $281. There is also a $50 rebate from Air Lift on air bags and air compressor kits total of $100, 3/1/2015-6/30/2015.
  17. I'll be installing "Load Lifter 5000 Ultimate #88113" air helper springs today. The motorhome is all jacked up, wheels removed, and waiting for me. Will post pictures.
  18. Installed polyurethane sway bar bushings by Energy Suspension and new polyurethane shock bushings. Don't know why but I installed Brillstein shocks two years ago, 19,000 miles, and now the upper mount rubber is shot. Maybe I got them to tight. It does seem that the steering is more responsive. Also the front end seems to be harder riding when a bump is hit.
  19. I loved my roof rack. Loved is because I sold that motorhome. My new motorhome does not have a roof rack and would like to put one on. We used the rack and ladder for crab traps all the time. It never leaked and was solid.
  20. Wow, what a beautiful looking rig you have. The awning also looks great.
  21. Completed the Fan Tastic fan install. Everything went well . Boy does it move some air.
  22. I'm putting in a fantastic fan. Install will be in the bath area. Got the old vent-fan out now have to clean the mounting area.
  23. There's a onan 2800 microlite for sale in Coose Bay, Or for $150, says he will look at anything over 100. Coose Bay, or craigslist. It has 192 hours on it, came out of a 88 dolphin with low miles. If anyone is interested in it I can look for them. I'm here for the day.
