SEABREEZE Coach build quality?

Recommended Posts

First Iisting I've seen for one so far is a '91.  Nice looking in & out, if too pricey for me.  Has a professional all-over desert sand paint job, a growing trend I am seeing.

General info re framing, insulation, roof construction, etc  would be helpful, if known.  What's the general consensus/reputation of this coach?   Are there annoying/inconvenient or troublesome issues peculiar only to Seabreeze?

Your thoughts, please.

Scarlett

The "worst built" coach is probably the Odessey. Having said that the real problem is not the mfg but the previous owners. How was it maintained?

Worst built.  In what way?  I am looking hard now, & need to get a sense of the different coach manufacturers.

I agree, however, that previous owners' care/lack thereof in the end make or break it...

Odessey are the worst leakers in their old age.

A typical 'stick-built' home from one of the larger builders. Must have been pretty good since they built on Toyotas to the end while most of the others fold their tents.

Morning Derek (at least it's still AM here),

I am looking at everything from San Diego to Portland & this is, so far, the first Seabreeze I've had a digital look at.  Boy, the one I found this morning is a beauty, with good owners to boot.  If I had the dough I go for it, tho it's 6 cyl/auto with rear bath.

No matter what, I draw big line in the sand: no farther than Portland.  Nice little rig tho & good asking $.

My wireless mouse died, can't manage to copy/paste links, but have a gander at the '91 Seabreeze on craigslist:  check the Portland list, I think.  A thing of beauty is a joy forever...

My desired purchase, however, would NOT involve paying for sellers' interior makeover.  I am great at that myself, but won't do rot damage restoration.  I'm doing that now on my redwood cottage!  But this Breeze is done with style and good taste, always nice to see.

Have you got pics of your rig uploaded on this site?  If so, where?

But you said Portland!! :)

That one has me very confused because I've never seen that layout (rear couch & dinette) in any Dolphin or Seabreeze.

Seller said they installed new jack knife sofa, so they may done a thorough rearrange.   Their upholstery & lined curtains are top drawer!  What do you think of the all-over paint job idea? More & more RVers are going to this in order to blend in & not look flashy.

IF it remains possible/sane to travel Mexico, this type of paint job would be good there.  Doesn't shout "RV".

It looks like the lower rear wall has been reskinned. And of course repainted.

I see that.  Doesn't that rear area normally have a padded/upholstered panel across there, with a short bench spanning the distance between the dinette banquettes?  Does that raise a red flag?  (You are helping me learn to "sleuth" the digi pics, thanks!)

Half the battle is figuring out which listings to eventually follow up on.  Here's a theory of one type of seller:  if they have gone to great labor/expense to create a truly fine coach interior I figure it's unlikely a lemon.

Your thoughts?

Derek, just noticed seller sez price is firm for 1st two weeks of listing.  Hard to imagine it won't go soon, but I will keep my eye on that one!  The layout is unusual, for sure, but that's a layout that might be comfortable.,,

I still ***want your opinion*** of the new trend in all-over "discreet" paint jobs.  (I'd go for one.  Great in the US Southwest desert, tho I'd prolly paint mine a soft sage green.)

I'd say that most overall paint jobs are to hide repairs done to the outside shell. From the factory, the 'house' finish isn't exactly up to automotive standards. Fix a repair and you'll probably never be able to replicate the original finish, so you're stuck doing the whole thing.

Color choices? Do I look like Martha Stewart?

You're no doubt right.  But this new paint job IS a trend.  Some RVs are going with a Raptor (bed liner) paint job, which is tough as nails & resists scratches & hail damage.  As to this mystery "Seabreeze" who knows?

Are you suggesting that, between the unusual layout & the exterior paint job there is **deep digging** to be done by an interested buyer?   Don't be subtle.  Lay it out.  What's your best intuitive stab?

Model 550 rear dinette is it. Just doesn't show it for a 91

Hi Linda,

Now I'm thoroughly confused.  I know sometimes sellers are mistaken about the year of a rig, but are you and Derek now identifying this one as a Dolphin?  Were the two coach brands interconnected at any point?

BTW, have you had a look at this particular coach?

Wow!  How did you come to learn *so much* about so many things Toy?

Spend a few years on these groups and you too will be an expert grasshopper. It is the way of the " Toyota Motorhome"
