zero
I can do an Internet Google or Yahoo search as well as anyone else I assume. That being said, anyone from Michigan know about current seat-belt regs for sure? I grew up with no seat-belts and my first set of kids did not even need child-seats. But as we know, things have changed. My question relates to my 1988 Toyota Minicruiser. Two of my kids are coming next week to visit along with my grand-daughter who is 10 years old. I think we will take a few family trips around northern Michigan and the "real" northern Michigan in the UP. That means four adults, one 10 year old kid (my grand-daughter), one 12 year old kid (my youngest son) plus a overweight Border Collie. We have two seat-belts in back for the dinette seats. None for the coach-bed. As far as I can tell, I'm legal as long as the front passengers have belts, and the two kids at the dinette have belts. Nobody else in back needs restraints - I think. Just want to make sure. Last time any of my kids came to visit I was still living in central NY. I picked up my son at Albany airport (he just got out of the military where he did not wear seat-belts). We were driving home on the Interstate and a State Trooper pulled us over and gave him a ticket for not wearing a belt. You'd think a cop being paid likely $75K a year had something more important to do. One of the reasons why I left NY. Police are much less common here and the ones that are around tend to be much nicer. Still - I'd like to avoid problems if possible.
linda s
I was surprised to find out that seat belts are not required in the living area of a motorhome in California. I guess most states are the same. As bouncy as our rigs are someone could get hurt without even getting in an accident. Lately I haven't been using my seat belt very much Don't know why. Just playing with death I guess. Live in a small town now and police are not so aggressive here either. Linda S
Totem
my research suggested no belts enforced in the coach/living area either. this is largely due to the fact that you can actually be more harmed by being kept stationary belted down while absolutely everything else goes wizzing by during an accident. In other words don't get in an accident.

She got a new one and I went to put it back in the mount and thankfully it did not fit. I think it is a pretty typical thing to have these metal cylinders mounted on the wall of our coaches. I looked at that mount it it occurs to me that this is probably a pretty crazy idea. Those flimsy mounts are sure not going to hold that thing on the wall and what a projectile it is! jjrbus
Good catch Wade. I will be mounting mine soon and will find a different location. Jim

Wade The best location for the extinguisher is right in the gangway door opening on the wall but LOW near the floor. This allows you to flee from any point but return to retrieve it and fight the blaze so that you can successfully get pictures for in this forum. I believe that's the Factory location for the extinguisher in (at least the'90s) Dolphins and Winnebagos. No telling where owners might have added another.
