zero
Might be a good deal for someone who wants an OEM Kohler generator pulled from a 1991 Toyota. Just keep in mind that the company that made the motor for Kohler went bankrupt years ago and many parts are no longer available.
Derek up North
Also bear in mind that usually the first comment about the OEM Kohler generators is that they are VERY LOUD!! Probably one reason that they all seem to have very low hours on them!! And probably louder than a Honda!
linda s
Yes extremely loud. I never used mine and now it won't start. I could care less. Just waiting for my son to have time to remove it and I will make the space work for a little portable which I will remove and set on the ground to use. Just found out the Yamaha 2000 weighs 3 lbs less than the Honda 2000. For this old lady every lb counts Linda S
linda s
Wow I just found this. Would like opinions on it. Only 31 lbs and as quiet as a Honda. Made by MSD ignition. They are a good company aren't they? http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Inverter-Generator-Ultra-Lightweight/dp/B00LH3UXA6 Linda S
WME
Its only 1000w. If MSD makes it, its usually good stuff. IF MSD just rebadges it, then its a cr*p shoot as to quality.
linda s
No there's a 2000 in the same link. Just click on it. $749 plus shipping Linda

linda s
Yeah and the 2000wt one weighs pretty much the same as a Honda or Yamaha but is louder. I kind of wondered why the Amazon site shows both generators weighing the same and same sound. Not for me. Linda S

It's a flathead lawnmower engine made by Tecumseh, I don't think there is any way to make them quiet. I am surprised that Kohler - at least at that time period - would use such a crap engine. Now adays nothing would surprise me when it comes to the "new" Kohler. If you have ever seen an Ariens or Snapper 5-6 horse rider mower - it is likely the same engine. Yamaha is 51.5 dBA at 1/4 load and Honda is 53 dBA at 1/4 load. That is a pretty big difference if true. I suppose the Yamaha is able to do it because it has a smaller engine then the Honda. One shows a 80 cc engine and another shows a 125 cc engine. That is a big difference - yet both show the same sound rating and weight. Looks very much like the ETQ generator I have. http://www.toxicbowfishing.com/product-p/dig02010.htm shows 125 ccs and this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-Inverter-Generator-2000-Watt-Inverter-Generator-Very-Quiet-Lightweight-/231111102954 shows an 80 cc engine. Both same part # too.
