Converting Duo-Therm Roof Ac To Fan-Tastic Fan

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with converting a rooftop ac unit to a fan-tastic like fan to gain weight and drag advantage? I'm working on an 84 sunrader with 22r. Any thoughts on this idea will be appreciated.

Thank you,

It is not a difficult job the opening is the same size 14X14 your biggest issue would be getting 12 volts to your new fan. You could pick up power from the nearest light. If you are looking for mileage gains it will not be worth the effort but if you don't have 120 volt power the fantastic fan can't be beat they move a lot of air and are not energy hogs.If your A/C works you can get your money back and then some more that enough for two fantastic fans. By the way get the one that reverses and has a thermostat it's well worth it.

You could always use your 120 volt existing wire to run your 12volts.

Just be sure to detach it from the ac panel and reattach to the dc fuse block.

Take a sharpie and mark both ends so you know the wire is 12 volt.

I should qualify that by stating your current ac wire should be a dedicated line. If not, this suggestion should not be used.
