tlava
Hi Folks-- I might be on a bi of a buying binge, but here's one I thought I could use as a reg. commuter--anybody have any exp. with diesels? I saw a very interesting vehicle, a '77 Mercedes sprinter. What are some of the advantages/disadvantages of diesels (esp of that vintage), if anyone knows... I was thinking of trading in my Subaru Sport... (well, the Sprinter is 19 ft)--apparently it gets 24 mpg, which is about the same as the Subaru....? Thanks! WME
The Sprinter was made beginning in 2003 as a Dodge. It was available in Europe in 1995 as an MBZ. A 77 would be a MBZ T1, gray market and hard to get parts for.
Derek up North
I believe some call the Mercedes TN/T1 the 'Sprinter' also. http://en.wikipedia....ercedes-Benz_T1 Yes, they're thin on the ground in North America.
Oldiesel
you will find info on those trucks on www.peachparts.com as stated they are somewhat rare in the U.S. but they do pop up there occasionally and there are knowledgeable people there who seem to find parts for them. Maineah
There are plenty of 5 cylinder Sprinters (Dodge) around and they did get mileage in the low to mid 20's Any reason you need some thing that big after driving a Subaru? How about a VW TDI mine will do 50 MPG to problem.
