MPG goes up as the speed goes down.

65-70mph = 10-12 mpg, 55-60 mph = 14-16 mpg, 45-50mph = 16-18 mpg.

Whats more important time or money

Money!......no......Time?!......shoot......Money!.......sure, ok......I'll stick with "Money" for now.

Oh, and RE: gas mileage. WIND!!! Sadie's mpg really suffers when she's fighting the wind.

Kenny, have you posted pictures of the inside? Glad to see your enjoying your new toy.

I would rather climb the mountains, than deal with a headwind. I've been down to 55mph and almost floorboarded in a 30 mph headwind. Talk about BAD mpg

I had an AFM malfunction myself and was quite a headache locating the culprit.. nasty stuff.

65-70mph = 10-12 mpg, 55-60 mph = 14-16 mpg, 45-50mph = 16-18 mpg.

Those are prob pretty damn accurate numbers right there. 45 is tough to do on major freeways, but I actually enjoy pissing everyone off by driving slow through places like L.A! :)

I recall TurboGreg describing his 6-8mpg coming back from a BigSur Rally a few years ago holding 60-65 NBound on Hwy 101 through the King City/Salinas Corridor. :) Ya headwind!

Hello,

Welcome, as I'm fairly new here too. I have the exact 1986 22ft toyota dolphin that I picked up not too long ago. Good luck fixing her up. I've just torn the wall off and replaced it in mine. Still have a lot of work to do, but its getting done. There is a lot of wiring in my toy that is messed up I might need some help in the near future figuring it out. Maybe you will be able to help since you have the same one as me, and vis versa let me know if you need any input!

-GOOD LUCK

I think 19 mpg is really streatching it. Downhill with a tailwind. Sortof an Urban Myth. If you can get 19 mpg consistantly in a 4 banger then your engine is running really lean which is not good and I think there was a tail wind.

A little correction. Sold the Turbo and bought a Conquest Gulfstream so now I am known as "Gulfstream Greg" for all those who came on board after the sale. And yes the south flowing wind south of Salinas California on highway 101 can be brutal. When we had the turbo I did not have to floor it but we certainly drank some gas to keep the speed at 65. The head wind was in the 20 to 40 mph range. On some trips north bound I found it beneficial to actually draft a big rig. Made a huge difference. Now that we have the V6 Conquest I have not had the privilege of experiencing that or any strong head winds yet.
