Spare tire Mount/Carrier

I have a 1991 Winnebago Warrior (6cyl) that came with the Spare tire in the shower... I would ultimately like to mount the tire under the rig in the back..? Is this possible? Anyone else do this? Or know how? Links to show steps? Places/cost associated? What parts needed?

I have no trailer hitch installed (would like to install one! just a regular toyota hitch?) there is no mount on the back or ever has been (ie: dolphins have them on he back in the middle) there is no ladder or roof rack...

Thanks! I appreciate it!

Any chance you have a square 4 inch bumper? Mine is mounted vertically on a clamp-on tire carrier attached to rear bumper. They are simple and cheap or easily self fabricated. I can't imagine mounting a spare under one of these rigs as the clearance is pretty minimal on most, but haven't seen your rig. Photos?

The stock Toy spot for the spare is underneath, tucked up between the frame rails, just aft of the rear axle. See if the mounts are still there. If they are, then a trip to a wrecking yard will get you the pieces you need.

IF no mount then the rear bumper is about your best bet.

A hitch will need to be done correctly with a reinforced frame needed. What ever you do don't just bolt on a hitch

Our rig uses the same system as the Toyota pickups. chain with crank by the jack handle located right side behind the axle.

I used a universal RV hitch to the frame extenders and had to remove two small skid brackets to make room for it. Our fully loaded GVR on the trailer is 700#s and I wouldn't advise towing more than that.

My bumper is square but seems very .... non bumperish- more like a bumper/casing for the piping for toilet/sink/shower, etc... I can take picures of the underside- maybe that will help give a better idea..

Thanks for everyones help and input! Excited for the times ive had in it and the many years I have ahead in this lil 'Warrior'

I will check tonight.. If the mounts arn't there... Can I get them from somewhere?? I think I found a website of toyota parts online that had spare mounts.. nothing for RV's so wasnt sure if would work (due to hanging of clearance). cost about $50..?.........?

Roger that! DONT BOLT A HITCH!!!! ( What if..... im only going to use it to put ice chests and possibly BBQ, maybe storage container...?)

The frame seemed like one of the weakest frames I've seen on any vehicle...there is a slight bend or damage done to one side of the frame and the sway rails 'thingamajiger'(little black metal bars about 8"inchs ish in length that hang from the rear of frame in a "V" shape) one is broken off... ( I stille have it, came with rig... had no idea what it was for till recently..

Thanks Foxy,

What universal RV hitch did you use? Have any pictures of completed work? :)

My Jack is located behind the driver seat... and the rest of the stuff I use for repair or etc... I keep directly to the left of the entrance under the dining seat (storage)...

From what your saying... If' I were to install a hitch in a similar fashion as yourself, do not tow anything that is in excess of 7,000 lbs. ?

Isn't the rig empty at 7,000 lbs...

total equals to 7,000 RV 7,000 tow (boat, trailer, etc...) =14,000? That seems a bit much?.... I hear and seen some do it!

Thanks again!

I''ll try take pictures tonight if feasible of the underside so everyone can see a better idea of what Im talking about...

I believe that he is saying do not tow in excess of 700 seven hundred pounds not 7 thousands
