I am thinking about replacing my stove with a 3 burner slide in. I have never used the oven for any thing other then toast and where I have the microwave is really kind of in the way. So I guess the question is what have you guys used and how did you like the ones you bought? Most of the ones I have seen have a single grill covering the burners and I am wondering how they would work with a Coleman type coffee maker (the type you put over a flame) I have got to have coffee in the morning and I don’t want to find out the hard way that it won’t work! On my old one I just take the grill off the burner and put the coffee maker over the flame so I'm wondering if sitting above the flame would burn the sides.

I removed my oven and installed a 3 burrner stove top. Mine was from a going out of bussiness sale and it has 3 seperate buner tops.

I make coffe using a tea kettle and a Meleta filter system, so don't know about the Coleman thing.

I plan on removing the stove/oven and replacing it with:

A 2 burner Seaward Princess 2277

http://www.seawardproducts.com/2277.htm

These have a 10k btu burner which is commercial sized (I like to cook) as well as a normal 7k btu burner. They also make a 3 burner unit but I found a 2 burner one as NOS for a good price

Underneath it I will be putting a Samsung 1088 oven/microwave.

It has a drop down oven door like the standard oven so is a lot easier to use at a lower level.

I've already got the appliances, I just need the time to dig in and do the work.

I've always used a Chemex to make coffee in. Makes a killer cup of joe

Thanks for the tips Mike I could not find a price for the microwave, that looks like just what I need as I was going to add a toaster oven any way. My microwave is a real cheap Wall Mart thing that could probably go so the combo thing would be the hot lick. I am very lazy so I make the coffee the night before then hop out of bed light the burner and go back to bed and wait for the coffee to do it’s thing in the morning it also has the added benefit of warming a cold camper! I tried one of those coffee press things (very popular overseas) but it was overwhelming first thing in the morning way too many moving parts. The Coleman thing works well but it is slow and I’m not sure how it would do high above the flame I guess I could try it on my gasoline stove and see if it survives. I’m leaning towards the 3 burner, Wedgwood and Suburban seem to have models around $200 one has a 9,000 btu burner.

Hey Mike.

I converted one of my 21' Sunraders to have a 3 burner stove top plus an Apollo Half-Time convection/microwave oven combo.

A description of the upgrade steps are at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/toyota-campers/message/98597

When we bought our sunrader it had a microwave in place of the oven. The old stove top was a rattle trap. Since we hardly stayed where there was power and no generator we opted to pull the microwave and replace the stovetop with a 3 burner range/oven. The new stove is almost rattle free! I think I still have the microwave and the metal bezel that went around it edges.

I heat my water in the microwave then use a one cup filter for the coffee. It beats the hastle of the stove top.

Thanks guys for all your ideals I think I am going to use a two burner drop in for the extra counter space. I am rebuilding the entire counter complete with a usable sink and a nice storage space where the oven was the only thing I ever did with the oven is make toast seemed like a bit of over kill. I am also removing the microwave and installing a convection/toaster oven. This is all in an attempt to bring the interior into the present century.
