  1. I thought that's what Duck Tape was for!
  2. If it's the one I think it MIGHT be, I wouldn't touch it. The one in question was discussed in the Yahoo Group. Had questionable ownership.
  3. I'll start by saying that I've got a pretty 'numb bum' when it comes to tire pressures. However, typically people seem to run a higher pressure in the rear than the front. Not just motorhomes, but RWD cars, trucks and vans. Lowering the front too much will give you heavier steering. I guess if it was mine, I'd try 40F/50R.
  4. Do you have a manual for your model fridge? What make and model is it? Is this new to you? Has it ever worked (on propane) since you got it? http://www.gasrefrigeration.net/dom_techdata/AES_SM.PDF http://bryantrv.com/docs.html
  5. Either a 4.56:1 or 4.88:1 should bolt right in and might be enough to solve your problem. Do you know what ratio's installed? Probably a 4.10:1.
  6. There's some good basic info here:- http://www.macandchris.com/IntroToDryCamping.htm Forget 4 x 6 volt batteries. You'll only find room for 2.
  7. You should use either 'putty tape' (grey) or 'butyl tape' (black) which lasts longer. Try home Depot, Lowes, etc in the plumbing section. Some also call it 'plumber's tape'. When the time comes, I plan to try a brush/roll-on truck bed liner. White/light color would obviously be cooler!
  8. Behind all 22R-Es is the type A43D transmission. It seems to me that I've read that the 'altitude' switch is behind one of the kick panels. 1985 (close enough!) FSM here:- https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B_1LbTxQDmlVYmRkZTE2YjItODUzYS00NDUxLTk0ODUtYTYxYjZiYjk4ZTA5&hl=en
  9. I'm no expert but I haven't read anything about any stampings on the axle housing to indicate the ratio. But I have seen mentioned a 'color coding'. But I'm not sure where they put the paint dabs! Ratio Color 4.10 Pink 4.11 Orange 4.30 Blue 4.37 Green 4.56 Yellow 4.88 White Source:- http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=348293 "the color is a great GUIDLINE but gearman and I have come across some gears that don't match the chart......so it pays to count teath and double check"
  10. Check the driver's door jamb. http://www.brian894x4.com/Gearratiosanddiffs.html Was probably originally a 4.10:1 (G294), though a few seem to have been ordered with 4.30:1 (G284) ratios. You most certainly do NOT want a 3.90:1. If you do a search for '4.56' and '4.88' you'll find lots of discussion about other ratios.
  11. A muffler shop without a muffler? Makes me think of this:- What was it about the muffler needed that was so 'rare' and where did you manage to find one?
  12. Glad to hear that it's not just me! Small consolation!
  13. FleaBay has the from ~$400 (used) to $800 (new). If you hope to run one off a 2000W portable generator, keep searching for a smaller (7-9000Btuh) A/C.
  14. You could try U-Haul:- http://epc.uhaul.com/LinkOne/Viewer/Book.aspx?ReturnUrl=/LinkOne/Viewer/book.aspx?book=u-haul/toyota&book=u-haul/toyota
  15. AFAIK, you'll not find anything 'off the rack'. If you've a good muffler shop they could build you something. Or buy a system for a 90 pickup and modify it. Probably have to splice in a straight piece for the longer wheelbase and devise a tailpipe, probably out the side.
  16. This is the closest I could find. Looks like you're aiming for 5.5"-6.5". http://www.jegs.com/i/Firestone/385/6781/10002/-1
  17. I think your air springs are over extended @ 90psi. There should be a spec showing an acceptable operating range/installed height. You could damage them.
  18. A quick Google search shows the '92 Miata @ 2214lb. That's 50% over the 1500lb limit you quote.
  19. Just came across these and thought they might provide some inspiration:- http://www.tinyhousetalk.com/custom-truck-bed-micro-camper/ http://www.tinyhousetalk.com/tiny-light-fiberglass-camper-doubles-as-boat/ http://www.tinyhousetalk.com/custom-built-micro-camper/
  20. I'm wondering if a Blue Ox Brake Buddy on a flat towed vehicle would eliminate the potential braking problem? Also, Toyota rated the SRW 1-Ton with a 8500lb CVWR, so they felt the brakes on the SRW was up to the task of stopping (safely) 8500lb. I'll assume that the DRW 1-Ton has brakes at least as good. Also, our motorhomes have the aerodynamic efficiency of an air brake to help at high speeds.
  21. Installing a 22RE would give you about the same HP as your Miata (116). So it would be a toss-up as to which should be used as the toad.
