  1. I don't know how the Nova Star is built, but the Sunraider's have a problem of not enough cross support in the floor. After time and miles the weight of the shell pressing down on the unsupported floor would cause the floor to sag at the edges. That maybe what your seeing, not the floor swelling up.
  2. The coolant of RV type refrigerators is ammonia, if there is a leak in the system it is very apparent. Normal foul smells are usually mold related. When you store an RV you should block the refer door open so that air circulates and keeps the mold to a minimum.
  3. FWIW My Escaper had a 12" frame extension. The way it was done may be useful for your repair guy. They made 2 L channel pieces about 18" long. The L matched the width and height of the factory frame. Put the frame in a jig and cut it where it was straight then stretched it to the new wheelbase. They then welded the first channel to the top and outside of the frame there were 4 welds inside and 4 outside The other channel was welded to the bottom and the inside. Then the joints were welded full length. The result is a fully boxed frame.
  4. Post a picture of the propane tank and the hole for the hatch. There is a universal hatch and frame 7.8"x 12.6" available. https://www.camperid.com/access-hatches.html
  5. OK more pictures and pricing...https://www.ecoflow.com/us/wave-portable-air-conditioner Pre-order prices. Just the basic AC unit $1000 (no battery), AC unit, battery, 12v charge cable $1800.00 It's seems to be built like a house hold window unit, just a condenser out back. The ad says it has a venting kit. The price makes this not so Toy House friendly 🤣Ad verbage says perfect for cooling your tent, I can just see a back packer humping this and solar panels up a mountain. For car tent campers a different story
  6. OK basic stuff, a normal rear axle has a single bearing on each side and the middle of the tire is centered over the bearing, so the load is on the bearing. When the RV mfg need more weight carry capacity, they added another tire. That fixed the weight problem, but with the add on tire the weight was carried about 5" outboard of the bearing. Every rotation that 5" of leverage flexed the axle and over time many failed and the wheel came off making a mess of things. The full float axle is a different design. It has 2 bearings per side and offset wheels so that the load is centered between the bearings and the bearings carry all the weight, the axle sees no flex, it just provides power to make things go. Even in the very rare event of an axle failure the wheels stay on. All full float axles are the same design. But what matters is the width of the axle, the center to center width of the spring perches and the shock mounts. That eliminates almost every thing but a Toyota 1 ton axle. Some folks with "skills" have put a GM 14 bolt axle on their toyhouse and ran 15" singles
  7. If things are working correctly when your plugged into "shore power" (110v AC) the CONVERTER takes 110v AC and makes it 12v DC. The 12v DC powers the lights, water pump and any fans. Extra 12v energy will charge the house battery. Those 3 items are ALWAYS powered by 12v DC. 110v AC will power the home style outlets and if you have them the microwave and roof Air, When your running the truck engine the alternator should charge the truck battery and the RV house battery. There is a thingie called an isolator that links the alternator to the house battery. With the engine off the isolator opens and the house battery runs things, but the truck battery stays disconnected, so the next morning you still have a charged truck battery and can go your merry way.
  8. 2x on Oregon State parks. I misspent a lot of my youth living in tents, sleeping in the daytime in the jungles of SEA. This was pre ecotourist. My current view of things, when I speak of roughing it. I'm talking about B&W TV. I'm on the info/endless E-mail list for a portable, battery powered 4,000 btu AC. When something actually happens I post info here. Here's is some entertaining reading when your bored. https://www.boundfornowhere.com/blog2/amelias-before-tour Good Luck
  9. 😳 You did say travel medical, don't know to many hospitals on mountain tops in deep forests
  10. Composting toilets are not a big resale point, Anywhere you can stash the flush unit until that time? Replacing the AC with a Maxx-air or Fan-Tastic unit will cover about 80% of your cooling needs. But they won't cool below outside temp and 100 degrees is not a good sleeping temperature. You have a working AC, think about keeping it, instead of having to buy a new one in a year or so if you end up in a place like St. George UT in Aug Look at the black water tank and see if you could connect it to use as extra gray water tank, if you do go to a composting toilet. Your limiting boondocks factor is your fresh water tank. Propane refrigerators are amazing things, they will run for weeks on a tank of propane. Replace ALL the light bulbs with LED bulbs. 100w of solar will do, 200w of solar and 2 T-105 6v batteries are akin to perpetual motion. NEVER NEVER delay roof maintenance, or leak fixing. For repair stuff, remember you have a Toyota Pickup not a Toyota Motor Home. You have a Nova Star motor home I see Linda types faster than I do, her point about using it stock for a year or so is a VERY good idea. Some times ITS HARD ($$) to undo some things
  11. WOOT is in the generator business today, prices may or may not be a deal. https://www.woot.com/plus/generate-some-power?ref_=pe_26713730_638169260
  12. If yours is missing, then go to a wrecking yard and get one from a Toyota PU, don't forget the crank. This is what it looks like...https://www.ebay.com/itm/303800308069?hash=item46bbe8d165:g:oV4AAOSwa9NfztyR If the OEM didn't bugger things up, it is a simple bolt on. Remember a security chain
  13. I hate internet guessing...Rust and scale in boiler stack. Clean the stack with a bristle brush and compressed air. Wear a mask and safety goggles when you do this. The scale is nasty. Good luck. P.S. the boiler stack is the tall vertical chamber/tube on top of where the propane flame lives.
  14. OK so Brownie didn't do it for you, how about newer 4wd, diesel Toyota camper?? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1989-toyota-hilux-galaxy-camper/
  15. Bid to $40,000 reserve not met.
  16. Extra wowzza GM introduced a 2.7L 4 cylinder for their pickups. 310 hp, 420 lb ft of torque @ 3000rpm. That should make a 18ft scoot.
  17. The reason for the 3rz suggestion is that is has the same HP as the 3.0L V-6 AND it's a 4 cylinder so you need a smaller shoehorn. TOS has parts listed for the swap, thought that meant they did the swap.. Oh well.
  18. Wife is a Facebooker. "she" 😁 will sign up for info
  19. No idea of it being useful in a toy, but a 4000 btu, battery powered. portable AC with an 8 HR run time. Replaceable battery pack. It will be interesting to see the price and if it would run of your 12v house battery. https://www.ecoflow.com/wave-portable-air-conditioner
  20. Linda if you contact TOS ask about a 3rz swap. It makes as much power as the 3.0 V-6. It would be a great fit on a Quad Light truck, better MPG and performance. Of course if a 5vz fitsyour rig, you don't have to use all the power all the time.do you🤔
  21. Winter tips... Leave inside cabinet doors open, this protects plumbing and fresh water tank. If your in a campground, a small portable electric heater works wonders. A lot of stores are in a close out mode and the heaters are cheap. The RV heater uses a lot of battery so a couple of days of boondocks will push the house battery. One day and then a drive will keep things up With EMPTY holding tanks pour a qt of RV antifreeze (pink stuff) in each tank. This will protect the valves. If it gets stupid cold one night "flush" the toilet with straight RV antifreeze. An almost full tank takes a lot longer to freeze. So plan your dumps with an eye on the weather forecast.
  22. Not a SCAT, but possibly a Sandtana. Let's just wait for photos
  23. I did some digging. What do you think the odds of there being 2 Root beer brown Hot rodded 4wd Chinooks in the US? I can't definitely say it's Nolan's, but it originally came from Dalles Or.😛
  24. Get your check book out and buy an extra lotto ticket. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-toyota-4x4-pickup-3/
