  1. If your selector switch only has gas, electric, it is a 2 way fridge. otherwise it would also have a 12 volt or DC setting. Most people just leave it on gas operation while on the road. Just turn off when you buy fuel and check periodically to make sure the pilot didn't blow out Linda S
  2. I looked closely at the pics of the coach on the Chinook site and I do believe they may have gotten the mold from Chinook. Hard to say cause this company also created a mold that was sold to New Horizon became the Nova Star so they did have the skills. Their version was called a Sprint. The funny looking counter top is the same pattern material used on many older Odyssey's though so I do believe it was made by Odyssey. Company name until the end of 1984 was General RV. December of 1984 it was either bought or the name was changed to Leisure Odyssey. They show up very rarely. I think I have only seen maybe 6 or 7 of them. There is a woman on the toyota campers site who owns a v6 Odyssey Starlite 4x4. The v6 ones have a much larger coach and a side door. Linda S
  3. Whole unit appears to have been painted and custom graphics on the overhead area. Yes they were obviously trying to make it look good. I painted over the Okanagan label on my old van and renamed it Gypsy. I have zero painting skills but I saw it for sale a couple of years ago listed as a Dodge Gypsy van. Linda S
  4. I'm pretty sure it is an Odyssey. they made a pop up in the 80's that looked very much like the Chinook. Of course it could be an older chinook shell on a newer toyota frame. The only thing it can't be is an Odyssey by Chinook. Two different companies that never worked together Linda S Label on the side was done at some later time
  5. Might be a good idea to ask if anyone has a lead on one for you at the toyota chinook site. I know your a member there too Linda S
  6. Nice looking even if the chevy's do have problems. I think the Bandit is the sleekest design of any of the pop tops. I saw that Horizon too. They are very well made rigs but the fiberglass nose on the front has a habit of disconnecting from the camper. Linda S
  7. Yes looks almost identical but it's wider and a little longer. I was supposed to pick up an 82 Odyssey pop top last summer but guy bailed on me. Going to try again next spring. I know he hasn't moved it and it's just getting messed up sitting where it is. needs major renovation. The later Starlite models only popped up on one side but they were 19ft long and had full bath and shower. I could have had one of those too but had to many projects at the time and didn't get it. Boy that was a stupid move on my part. Linda S
  8. It's not a Chinook. It's an Odyssey. The owner seems to think it must be a Chinook.Yes General Rv and then the newer owner Leisure Odyssey made pop tops from early 80's into the 90's. Very rare but they do look like Chinooks. The later ones had a side door and a v6 engine and were called a Starlite. Yes there are dual wheels in the back. Probably never changed to full floater though cause of the light weight. Linda S
  9. If you have a Toy home with the full float axle they are not lubricated by Diff fluid. They need to be repacked just like the front. big job though. Axles need to be pulled to get to them Linda S
  10. NADA is the national dealers association price. Basically what they will give you if you trade it in, squat. The real price is what we see them sell for again and again. I would feel guilty if the sellers thought the NADA value was what it was really worth. Probably would still buy it but I would feel guilty about it. Kelley Blue Book has a RV book which you have to buy for every year has a much closer price to the real price but still low. When I bought my Sunrader 8 years ago, NADA valued it at less than 2 grand but KBB valued it at 5500. I paid 6000 so it was close. Linda S
  11. PPL Rv parts has replacement gaskets for Dometic and Norcold fridges. They are very expensive but if they can order them I would guess any RV parts place could order them too. . Check local and if no luck call PPL. You can find them online Linda S
  12. Propane here in Northern Cal is about 3.50 a gallon but comparing it to gasoline doesn't make much sense unless I'm running a vehicle with it. My fridge uses a 1000 btu's per hour so that means it costs about 91.5 cents a day to run on propane. That is the max usage on high though so it is really less Linda S
  13. I don't understand why you would remove the roof supports. Do you intend to reinstall them? They add much strength to the structure. Please explain Linda S
  14. Me too love the propane fridge. Linda S I don't know about a serval fridge but I have left my fridge on for a month and still had propane left. 4 cubic foot fridge and 8 gallon propane tank but you really only get to put 6 gallons into it.
  15. Well my friends sons teacher from Soquel Ca just died last summer in a Dolphin but it was a headon collision when another truck drifted into their lane. had nothing to do with the axle. I will say the 2 other passengers not only survived but were not seriously injured which is quite an accomplishment if you look at the wreckage. Total destruction. I didn't save the pics but BAD. As far as the death axle I see so many old beat up not maintained fake duallies rv's out there I have to question it. I met one guy, hobo type, who proudly claimed he had flipped the odometer twice which meant the rig had almost 300,000 miles on it. I believe him too. Sure looked like it, axle still intact. Linda S
  16. Amazon can get one to you by Tuesday if you order by tomorrow morning. replacement takes like ten minutes http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B0002UHVYQ Linda S
  17. He's not trying to remove his gas tank. The little Sunraders have the bathroom behind the drivers seat and the black tank is in the way of his removing the spring. Those black tanks if broken need to be custom molded, very expensive, so it's in his best interest to remove it before working on the spring. He needs to know how to get the black tank out without damaging anything. Linda S
  18. Just buy some rims for the back and throw these on it. With a weight rating of 2271 I'm thinking they will carry your rig. Should get it weighed but the previous owners did the right thing by installing bigger rear tires instead of keeping the fake dually. I would have the bearings replaced and the axle inspected but going with single wheels is way easier than installing a new axle. http://www.onlinetires.com/products/vehicle/tires/maxxis/205%252F00-14+maxxis+ue-168+%28n%29+bravo+series+109%252F107q.html If you weight you vehicle and it's even close to this max wt I would put 15 inch rims on it and go the the larger size tire. This company makes them with D load rating for 15 inch too Linda S
  19. I love my Walmart batteries. The one that was in it when I bought it lasted another 5 years and the one I replaced it with is now 4 years old. I have the original old power center, charger that supposedly cooks batteries but my camper is always plugged in. Hate taking everything out of the fridge when I use it so often. So I am apparently doing everything wrong but I still can't kill them. Linda S
  20. This one you could drive home. Switch the axles and put your old one in this and still resell the truck for 1500 bucks. Lots of work but no money lost http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/3406755138.html Linda S
  21. Yeah Roys pics are on my site. Over 200 pictures so his reposting them here would be quite a challenge. Easy to join yahoo groups though and you are all welcome. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/minitruckcampers/ Roys pics of the restoration of his Nissan v6 Sunrader is an incredible store of knowledge. Much like Baja's timeline on his Sunrader project Linda S
  22. I emailed Don and asked him if he had removed his tank for any reason. If he answers me I will get back here for sure and tell you what he said. You might try the guy with the post here 1990 Sunrader remodel. Sounds like he removed everything inside and he mentions removing the shower completely. Linda S
  23. Yup air shocks. Not the right thing for these rigs. Those triangle things that stick down look like a pain too. I can see where your spring stops are wearing on the axle so you definately need something in there. While your at it get some Bilsteins to replace those shocks. Linda S
  24. There is another company that make the cylinder one but I don't remember the name of it. I had no idea any of them could handle that much pressure. Still Timbrens are good too but nothing is going to fix bad springs or lift the suspension enough to make up for bad springs. is there some way you can post a pic so the guys can see it. Linda S
