  1. I have an 81 Huntsman with a Dometic RM 360 electric/LP fridge. I know it's around $400 for a new cooling unit and $700 plus for a new fridge. I dont really want to spend that that kind of money on fixing it. Has anyone replaced their stock fridge with a regular electric mini fridge? I figure a refrigerator that works on electric is better than no fridge at all. The dimensions of the stock one are 29 3/4 inches tall, 20 1/2 inches wide and 21 3/8 inches deep. I found an igloo 3.2 cubic foot mini fridge that I think would fit for $120. Or if you happen to know of a junk or for parts RV with something similar let me know. Thanks.
  2. So I figured it out. The voltage regulator was in fact bad, but it blew the fuse in the process, which is why, when I put the new regulator on, it still wasn't charging. So new regulator and a new fuse and this particular problem seems to be fixed. Until something else comes up, which it always does.
  3. So my alternator went bad. I replaced it and it continued to not charge and put out enough power. The battery was putting out around 12 volts with or without the engine running. The alternator was only putting out around 6 volts with the motor running. The charge light remains on on the dash. So I replaced the voltage regulator thinking maybe that was the problem. Well it wasnt, or it didnt fix it. Same situation as before. Could it be a fuse? If so where is the fuse box/panel located. I have a 1981 Huntsman. I've tried just about everything as far as trouble shooting is concerned. Unless there is a short in a wire somewhere that I'm not seeing or there is some other electrical problem. But I havent looked at the fuses yet. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
  4. Taking the Huntsman to Alabama from Wisconsin

  5. I have a 1981 Huntsman that doesnt have any A/C, cab or roof. I was just wondering how the roof a/c units work. Can you only run them when you're plugged into a power supply or will then run off the power from the motor like the like the interior lights will? I think most of you have a roof a/c unit, so just let me know how it's powered. Thanks.
  6. I'm swapping out my 5 lug rear end for a 6 lug 1 ton. I bought a 1986 flat bed toyota with the 1 ton axle. I was just wondering if anyone out there that's done this before had any tips or tricks or anything to look out for? Do the drive shafts from the two match up? Do you have to get anything cut or welded to match or does everything swap in and out without any additional fabrication? Anything anyone ran into when doing this would be helpful
  7. Hello all. I'm swapping out my crappy 1/2 ton rear axle for a 1 ton toyota rear axle. It doesnt have rims on the axle right now. Could anyone that has the dually set up tell me what rims and tires are on their RV. What size rims and tires do you run in the rear? Also, do you know where you could find replacement ones to buy because I have to start from scratch. I dont know if you can just buy a dually rear wheel set up from a parts store or is there a specialty store you have to go to? Any help as to the dual rear wheel set up and where to find them would be very very helpful. Thank you.
  8. Does anyone out there know how the second battery in the engine bay hooks up? I have an 81 huntsman that has a space for a second battery, but I can only find a negative battery cable. If anyone has a wiring diagram or knows how this works that would be great. Thanks!
  9. Does anyone know what the gear ratios are in the Toyota RV rear ends? I've read that they're either 3.90 or 4.10 but maybe someone knows different. Also, anyone have any information on where to look that information up? Thanks
  10. I recently bought an 81' Huntsman. I'm going to swap out the "bad" 5 lug for a chevy rear end. Has anyone out there done this? Swapped out the rear end for a non-toyota rear end? I'm looking to go with a 3/4 ton or 1 ton chevy rear end. Anyone have any information that's done this before? Things to look out for, problems etc?? Thanks
