  1. Like the look of the agressive tread but I don't think I would go with such an unknown tire. Really just dreaming anyway. I will probably get the cheapest known name brand tire I can find and then not until I have to. Money is such an issue Linda S
  2. My Nissan Sunrader has 195/75/14 tires on it cause that was the only thing I could find in Rochester NY when I picked it up. Had to drive to California and the tires on it were shot. Funny though that is the tire size listed on the door frame. Have almost 6000 miles on them now but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Very poor ride I think due to the excessive flexing of the sidewalls. 1400lbs load per tire for a 5000 lb rig is well within the limits though even if you deduct the 10%. They were cheap though, 55 bucks at Walmart so I have no regrets. Made it home and have had no problems with them except for the poor ride quality. The Nissan has much deeper dually's than the Toyota. Had 205's on it when I got it and there was room to spare between the duallys. I have found one company that makes a 205r14 tire and I may go with those when I replace them. Linda S
  3. And the advantage of having a second tank instead of one bigger one? Aero Tank made the 26 gallon tank that was installed in some Sunraders as an option. Has not been available for a long time. I personally think you could wander wrecking yards for years and as long as you were looking in California your not going to find that second tank. laws have been in place too long. If legality is not a concern here a nice build with a tTrooper tank http://www.expeditionswest.com/equipment/tacoma/fuel_tank.html Linda S
  4. The wheels you posted Stamar are not Toyota wheels. No Toyota motorhome ever came with aluminum wheels. Just steel like Bunnys posted. Even the new ones you can order from Custom and Commercial Wheels are steel but you can have them chromed for a price. Linda S
  5. I have 2 1986 Sunraders.Have replaced all vents and resealed all windows on both. 1/4 inch everywhere but the bottom panels. Maybe they just made them stronger in later years. Linda S
  6. The Sunrader that I fixed the floor on was my 86 Nissan. Spent most of it's life in Fairbanks Alaska and then was abandoned in a field in upstate New York for 2 years. Power cord stuck out the side and funneled water into the floor the whole time. Is that cold and wet enough for you. Gutting and ripping the whole thing apart was not required. Linda S
  7. Installing a second tank in California is not allowed. Might fail smog test and will if they see it. I have been trying to get the measurements for the T100 tank. Looks the be the same shape and might fit in the space on a 21 footer. Will not fit mine cause it's the shorty but I think the 21ft has room. 137 inch wheelbase instead of my 112 inch. They are 25 gallon tanks and should be cheap at wrecking yards. Has to be a tank out of a T100 with the 3.0 v6 for the fittings to be on the right side. Passenger side fill tube instead of drivers side of the newer ones. Linda s
  8. I have no idea what kind of charger converter originally came in a Sunrader cause that's what I have. No adjustments that I can see anywhere on the front and never had a reason to pull it out. Check the water in my battery every so often and it has never been seriously low. I use my rig every couple weeks and keep my fridge stocked. That's why I keep it plugged in. Got tired of loading and unloading the whole thing. Linda S
  9. Sometimes I think I talk too much but whatever.I use Walmart batterys group 27 in my Sunrader. I also abuse them. keep the rig plugged in all the time but have the older original style converter charger so I'm basically cooking my batterys. First one was in there when I bought it and lasted 5 years. Second one is close to 4 years and still working fine. Considering the constant charging I'd say thats pretty good. Linda s I only have one coach battery. Small Sunrader, no more room
  10. here's a brochure which shows the sandwich section for the floor and ceiling http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/YLngUD22jIJC5kzQkuxSlGqy2SkHz5qgykTKRQNOLcrHASo_1_5Pi8XSEh2njsbGci7hup6sh34ve_Hr2J9fwQfevGWx6So/Coach%20Manufacturer%27s%20Information/Owners%20Manuals%20and%20Brochures%2C%20Etc./Sunrader/Sunrader%20Brochures/SunraderClassics.pdf The is no fiberglass on the bottom. Stuctural integrity is cause the floor sections are actually glassed into the side. I reinforced my 3/8 inch rotted floor with resin and hardiner like they use on This Old House to save old wood. Lots of little holes, pour it in and smooth out. Then I used 1/4 luan over that. Almost perfectly solid but if I had to do it again I would go with 3/8. I think 3/4 is just too heavy and takes away too much headroom Linda S
  11. 1) I weigh 165 and I can walk on my Sunrader roof all day long. Get up there every time I wash it and have been up there replacing all the vents and such. The cracking your hearing is probably the wood strips holding the ceiling in place. They might be starting to separate from the fiberglass or the ceiling panels separating from the wood strips. It's 1/4 inch thick up there and the fiberglass is not going to break but it does flex. Old wood doesn't do that so well. 2)Clearance lights are required by federal law for all vehicles wider than 80 inches. I have seen some people remove them but if you are ever in an accident at night the insurance company can say you were at fault because you did not have proper lighting. 3)Yes it's a stupid roof rack. It's also your tv antenna. should be a connecter somewhere to attach to it.. Not neccessary 4) the only sealant you should use is butyl tape. easy to apply around the edge of the coach before you set the window in place. Not putty tape, it drys out. Only butyl tape will do 5) cab to coach trim. Not available anywhere I know but a member of the toyota-camper group used white garage door seal and it looked fabulous. 6) I think awnings are stupid and heavy. I bring a cheap patio umbrella and a base you put water in. Just fill it when I get to my spot and place it where I want it, like over the picnic table instead of all the way at my camper. 7)Keys, the ignition key should fit the doors. If not someone switched the ignition at some time. No answer for you. No Toyota keys won't fit the camper door and compartment locks. Different kind of tumblers. All the other tumblers can be replaced at most hardware stores or a locksmith. 8) no clue 9)Insert trim. I guess bondo would work but I always thought that stuff was there for a reason. Karen says the 2 halves are glassed together so maybe not. Again I guess I just don't know 10) Your going to want those vents. Hot air rises and vent on the top is the easiest way to get it out of your camper. I wouldn't do it. New ones are cheap and last a long time Linda S
  12. Very cute little rig. Nice wide tires on the back. Make sure and check the age. Old tires don't do well on motorhomes even when they have good tread. Nice straight lines on the underside of the overhead section. Drooping is the first thing I look for for water damage. Looks good to me. Love the racheting double bed sections for the walk through in the vid. Much nicer setup than the newer ones. Linda S
  13. My shorty weighs 5000lbs empty but last year I went to Tahoe with it pretty loaded up, maybe close to 5600lbs. Yeah it's got a little less power up there but still ran fine. Just gets going slower. Drove up to Tahoe on route 20. Curvey back road. Still got 15mpg. I've gone to Reno many times, Mammoth Lakes a couple so over Tioga pass. I just go. If anyone behind me is pissed cause I can't fly, it's their problem. I do use pull outs if they are not on a steep incline. Would never get it going again. Have done a few 4x4 only roads too and managed to get through. Stupid but fun Linda S
  14. The big diference here is the 22r compared to the 22re. The fuel injection can compensate for the altitude better. I often go from 400 ft in San Jose to the Sierra's and have no problems. Can stay at least at the speed limit on everything but the steepest grades. I do have the shorty Sunrader and it weighs less than yours so it does make a difference but the biggy is the fuel injection Linda S
  15. Continental doesn't offer the Vanco 4 all season tire in the US anymore so the only tire available would be the vanco 2 summer tire. Since you can never depend on the weather espcially when on a long trip I think the Hankook's are a better choice anyway Linda S
  16. I see no women have answered, By the way all you guys who entered your wifes age are going to be eating dog food if they find out. I will just say this much. I used to be old but when I got my 18 foot Sunrader I started getting younger every year. Couple more years and I'm going to be getting in trouble for skipping school to work on my truck. My kids pick on me cause they say I love my Sunrader more than them. They just might be right about that. I do call it Baby. Life is good and when I'm behind the wheel of this awesome rig, I'm always smiling Linda S 86 Toyota 18 ft Sunrader 86 Nissan 18ft Sunrader with a v6 93 Tiger XL Chevy Astro chassis
  17. Maybe this would imterest someone. Toyota 4x4 with an Isuzu diesel engine. Lots of issues but parts galore and the engine is good http://charlestonwv.craigslist.org/cto/3407676926.html Linda S
  18. Unless you have been to see it nothing we say matters. You have to check it out for yourself. See if the peeling wall paper is just that or the wood underneath is gone to hell. Go look and get back to us. Your in the Sacramento area so fridge repair is pretty close in Vallejo. Parts are available at Dr George in Sac. Tires if needed are right in Reno at Tire Rack. Sac is a very good place to be with a toyhome that needs some work. It's a very good price as long as there aren't tons of issues but none of them can be diagnosed from an ad. You have to see it Linda S
  19. Remove as much of the old sealant as possible and push a fat rope of butyl tape all around the edge. It doesn't need to dry and will seal in the pouring rain. I know I have had to get on the roof in the pouring rain and do just this. When the rain stops, remove the vent and seal it properly underneath the edge with butyl tape Linda S
  20. This company makes energy efficient refrigerators in America. They also make full sized ones more usuable for a family http://www.sunfrost.com/refrigerators_main.html Linda S
  21. Yes I must have missed it because I was looking for a 67 dollar tire. Recent run on them must have given them reason to raise the price 10 bucks a tire. Still a decent price for our tires Linda S
  22. Looked up the motor part number at PPL RV parts but they want 165 bucks for it. Here's some on ebay with the same part number http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=hydro+flame+furnace+motor&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=hydro+flame+furnace+motor+PF2040Q&_sacat=0 Linda S
  23. I'm afraid they no longer have that Achillies tire. Between you and the people who must have jumped on that deal they are gone from the website. Linda S
  24. Astro motorhomes were made through the last year,2005, by Tiger Provan motorhomes. The early ones were pop tops but later they came out with a permanent hard high top on the XL model. They are very much in demand and sought after. Very small foot print, 16ft, Great gas mileage and some of them are AWD or full on 4X4's too. The only other Astro based motorhomes were the Aerolite which had problems because at 21 ft it just put too much weight on the Astro chassis. Made 86 and 87. The Astro Allegro was made until 1990 and had a floor plan similar to a Rialta. Nice because passengers face forward right behind the front seats. My 93 Tiger is a nice solid ,powerful little motorhome and gets 15mpg plus. Yes I own one of those too besides my 2 Sunraders. Linda S
  25. it's 16k for Sunraders according to the brochures on the toyota campers site. Didn't check any other manufacturers Linda S
