  1. The radio runs on the engine battery and no I have never heard of someone connecting it to the coach battery. Plenty of 12 volt radios out there that you can put in the back. That solar system needs to be connected to the power converter charger system to charge your batteries. Solar systems don't put out 110 power. 12 or 24 at the most. If you need more 110 your going to have to install an inverter 12 to 110 somewhere. Even with solar support running lots of 110 can run down your batteries. Linda S
  2. Butyl tape is very flexible. You can reposition stuff easily. When I put my windows in trust me I didn't get them in the right place right away. Linda S
  3. Hmm that tranny was used on the Corvette and Camaro and full sized trucks. I can see how they could experience a lot of problems.I'm thinking a little S10 especially with an RV attached might have not taken quite that kind of stress. Linda S
  4. Very good tires. pressure is about what I keep in mine and the torque sounds close. I think the torque on the rear is a little higher like 170 but I have had my wheels off lots of times and I have never torqued them . Nothing has ever fallen off. I stand on the lug wrench and jump a little. Very exacting skills I have Linda S
  5. I've never seen T9 air springs on a Sunrader. They used either Firestone Ride-Rite or Air lift. Kind of important that you figure out which one it is. My 86 Sunrader is Ride-Rite. You also need to check the lines coming from the bags. If it's just a leaking line will be much easier to fix. Do yours hold air at all. if so blow it up and then spray with soapy water and see if you see bubbles. I use kids bubble stuff from the dollar store. Had to have my propane lines checked not long ago and the professional stuff didn't bubble at all but my kids bubbles showed the leak immediately. Give it a try and try to see the model, take the rear wheels off one side to see. Then get back to us Linda S
  6. Not a Toyota but about the same size. Most of these Bandits were put on Toyota chassis. This is a v6 though and as far as I know there is only one v6 bandit with a Toyota chassis. At least only one we have ever heard of. Pretty neat little truck. Belongs to a member of my other group http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/111146328620 Linda S
  7. Cooling unit is the way to go. They come with complete instructions and considering your a quick study I'm sure you could figure out how to install it. About 400 bucks. My fridge didn't work when I first bought it and I did the block ice in a dish pan thing for several months. Worked OK but so love my fridge after I got it fixed. That was almost 10 years ago and still working fine so cooling unit is not a short lived repair. Here are a couple of the cheaper places to look. http://www.rvcool.com/ http://rvicebox.com/?gclid=CNfGxbXLjLkCFQ9eQgodCDQAHw I have purchased from the second supplier and had excellent results. Not for my Toyota but for my Tiger Provan. Packed nicely, shipped quickly and works perfect Linda S
  8. No Terry this is an SR5 model and the 22re was available on only the SR5 in 1984. Found that info in an old toyota brochure from that year Linda S
  9. I use butyl tape in my home sinks and fittings now. Works great and seems to make up for my bad plumbing cause nothing is leaking so far Linda S
  10. Again Karin thank you. I would just hate to see someone give up without absolute proof that it can't still get done. As I said that member of the Toyota campers group got hers done last December. Linda S
  11. And yet Paul was able to call and have his VIN checked to see if his vehicle qualified. I can't imagine a situation where they would check to see if you qualified for an expired service campaign. Their own docs say no expiration. Whomever you talked to probably was reading the poorly worded doc that you posted instead of the full service campaign. Customer service reps are not known for their extensive training. If anyone needs this done I strongly urge you to print this document and take it to a Toyota dealer. Easiest way to prove what needs to be done. Linda S
  12. I have a couple members of my other group looking for someone to repack rear wheel bearings in the San Diego area. Anyone here know of a good place? Honest ,reasonable Linda S
  13. Randy that sounds like a great program. I know as a minister to some of the prison population you know these men have many good qualities and can be educated to make a better life for themselves and that would make the world a safer place. I also know that the highest risk population is not usually a part of these educational programs. Costs a lot to keep people in prison and it's nice to know that some of us could benefit from that expense. I'll check in my area for any programs Linda S
  14. I don't know how far away you are but there is a Graingers in Billings. They have such a huge stock of stuff though and probably not available in all their stores. Linda S
  15. There are so many v6 Toyota motorhomes with really low miles that I think the extended for ever warranty is kind of just for us. Trucks those years mostly already have 100's of thousands of miles. I've seen many motorhomes with way less than 50,000. Less miles for the bad gasket to fail but you don't even need it to fail to have it replaced under this campaign. Perfect opportunity to get major service done at the same time and in Anthony's case get his truck fixed for nothing. Who's going to complain about that. Linda S
  16. Thank you Karin I couldn't find it the archives either. It is now at the head of this section and pinned so it's always going to be easy to find Linda S
  17. Here are the official docs on the V6 Toyota Head Gasket recall. http://www.google.co...hUlCd3_VgILtC3A Linda S Final post on this head gasket information. Thanks to Jim we have a confirmed end to this repair policy. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10145756-9999.pdf
  18. First special service campaign in 96 was for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Second in DEC 97 gave all the early v6 trucks only one more year for repairs and concentrated on the late 1990 to 1994 and that section DID NOT have an expriation date. Don't know what to tell you guys except for the fact that Toyota is still doing them and quite a few have been done in the last few years. Linda S This is copied from the official campaign document on the toyota campers site concerning the late 1990 and up models including the T100 trucks. Couldn't copy and paste whole document but this is the important part. Anyone needing this done can go to toyota-campers at yahoo and print out the whole PDF. It's in the files section. Take it to the dealer for proof that it is still in effect Under the Special Service Campaign Program, the head gaskets will be replaced on all the affected vehicles regardless of leakage or not, and there will not be any age, mileage or time restrictions under the Special Service Campaign
  19. I just posted that Toyota OK'd one just a little more than 6 months ago. Exactly what knowledge do you have that it is over. There are many more in the last few years on the toyota-camper site. Do I have to report them all? Linda S
  20. Some other work of his http://www.google.com/search?q=sun+ray+kelly&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=KBUQUvGsIZOMyAGPgoFw&ved=0CEIQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=631 Linda S
  21. So this was just listed on this site and it's in Pennsylvania. The very rare and coveted v6 with a 5 speed and at the rock bottom price of 6500. Not mine just saw the ad. Hope your still reading these posts http://www.toyotamotorhome.org/classifieds/listing/1942/1989_winnebago_REDUCED_V6_5_Speed.html Linda S
  22. Well on the toyota-campers group people are still getting it done. Tell that dealer you want to see the documents that say the recall was changed. Bet he can't come up with any. Or just call Toyota directly and have your vin number ready Toyota owner support 1-800-331-4331 Here's a post from a woman who had it done dec 2012. Her dealer told her the same lie yours did but toyota gave her the correct info I have a 1991 Toyota Winnebago Warrior with a 1990 Toyota pickup chassis.. I found out the head gasket had NOT been done by calling my local Toyota dealer. I asked the dealer to fix the recalled head gasket and they told me that the recall expired after eight years and it would cost me twelve hundred dollars to fix. I then called Toyota cust service and was told that recalls never expire. I told them what Obrien in Champaign IL said and so she gave me a case number and said if the dealer had any questions about it to refer them to my case number. I then called Obrien who changed there tune and arranged for me to take to Bloomington dealer who had a rack that could handle seven thousand pounds. > > > > So the answer is No I didn't pay for having the head gasket done. Toyota honored the recall.
  23. Made by the wood working artist Sun Ray. I had the good fortune to see this rig in person when he was working on a house in the Clear Lake area in California. Unfortunately it was just parked and there was no one there to ask all the questions I had. Have to wonder how much it weighs and how it drives. I then saw it for sale in southern Cal a couple of years ago. Have no idea where it is now. Linda S
  24. No matter how much you do they will always need something else. I just go have fun. I don't need it to be perfect to do that. Linda
