  1. http://archive.bangordailynews.com/1991/05/14/10000-motor-homes-recalled-because-of-axle-problems/ Finding accident reports from before the internet existed is difficult but I did find this. Yes people were injured and where wheels are falling off death is a real possibility Linda S
  2. I doubt that they are any harder to find. Toyota made millions of vehicles with the A43D transmission and almost all Toyota motorhomes with the 4 cylinder have automatic transmissions. Certainly a few manuals but not really that many. Where have you looked for parts. I guess it doesn't matter since your putting in a V6 but they have their own headaches to deal with. Make sure he adjusts the valve before he even puts it in. Linda S
  3. Love it. Well worth the price even not running. I wonder if you can import non running vehicles. Linda S
  4. Rent one from here and then maybe buy one. The 19G is just about one of the smallest fully self contained RV's you can buy today and they are really cute. It also has a smaller V8. And fiberglass, it's got that too http://www.cruiseamerica.com/buy/modelDetails.aspx?modelID=123&Make=Thor Majestic &ModelNo=19G Linda S
  5. Their website lists a full bath as a possible option for all campers. Possible doesn't mean they can add it to a Toyota sized camper and looking at the models for a Toyota I would say not likely. I have seen one mini truck sized camper for sale made by Kickin kampers. It had a slide out in the rear where the bathroom was. Unfortunately the company went out of business. Linda S
  6. There are no Toyota campers with a bathroom which I think is a must if you are full timing. Linda S I do mean truck campers that fit Toyota trucks not our motorhomes. A 21 foot Sunrader would give him the fiberglass he likes and Toyota chassis
  7. No problem. I have 2 Sunraders. A 1986 Toyota with the 4 cylinder and a 1986 Nissan with a V6. Both the short 18 ft models. I was able to adjust the front height on my Nissan quite a bit with the torsion adjustment. Yours is the 720 model so I don't know if it's the same or not. Also adding an air bag suspension in the back would give you some more height there. Linda S
  8. So sorry to hear about your health issues. Hope you make a complete recovery. Your a very smart and creative lady and have made tons of interesting and useful posts here that certainly have helped others on this site. We are all looking forward to see the completion of your Sunrader. Linda S
  9. Did you buy the Sunrader that was for sale in Tacoma last year? That one was pretty darn nice. Linda S Oh and you live in such a beautiful place. Drove around it once and every minute was an ooh and aah moment
  10. A Nissan Sunrader would have been built all on a Nissan truck. It doesn't have a Toyota axle. Also if it is really a 1984 it already had a full float axle. Nissan came out with them before Toyota. If you can post a pic it would help but have you actually counted the rear lugs. If it really is only 5 I'm afraid your stuck. Almost no Nissan full float axles are available. Let me know after you check on it. Linda S
  11. That model Chinook is my dream model. They only made them for a couple of years. Best model Chinook ever. Buy it but the mileage won't be great. Hey gas is cheap right now Well I found one of these for sale in Florida but it's a V10 not a V8. Mega gas hog Linda S
  12. Nada lists the Damon Escaper series 20 footer, Toyota, starting in 1984 through 1987. Wow I thought I had seen some v6 models but I guess not Linda S
  13. 1980 to mid 84 Toyota trucks used a mechanical pump. Some of the early ones would have been 20R engines Linda S
  14. That is beautiful. I know your going to love it. Bigfoot makes very good stuff. Linda S
  15. No Dolphins made anymore at all but yes. A used Toyota in good shape is a great way to start. They are pretty dependable, most repairs are not major, and lots of our members have made it to Alaska and back with no problems. Get used to the idea of learning a little more about mechanics though. Big difference when your driving hundreds or thousands of miles instead of just back and forth to work where your regular mechanic is at hand. Also you will be better able to tell if something isn't right. It's an adventure and your going to love it. Linda S
  16. No one makes tanks for older Toyota trucks. Try calling these guys. 2 different places that claim to have suitable tanks. Don't know how much shipping to your location would be Linda S All Parts Brokers Auto Salvage USA-ID(Caldwell) E-mail 800-678-7474 / 208-454-0713 522 1976 Fuel Tank Toyota Truck 3415C $Call B and K Auto Salvage USA-OR(La-Grande) E-mail 1-800-233-9640
  17. Yup looks like the military is the best RV group you can belong to. All the ones I looked at include retired. I have been to the one in Westport Wa with a retired military friend so you are allowed to invite guests to at least some of them. http://www.militarycampgrounds.us/milcamps Linda S
  18. Link to the ebay site couple you bought the flip sofa from would be good. I have gone nuts in the past trying to find these for people. Even if they only have them once and a while it would be good to be able to check once and a while Linda S
  19. Yup Yukon Gear no longer shows the 4 cylinder ring and pinion on their website. It is still showing up on Marlin Crawler though. Maybe they just have a back log of stock. Lots of other companies to choose from though. Lots of the crawler places out here sell Richmond gears http://www.richmondgear.com/index.php/about-us Linda S
  20. Have I told you guys how much I hate this thread lately. Darrel that's is a beautiful table and sounds like it's a project that most people could manage but after a couple of days no one will ever see it again. This thread will come up on a search for tables but who is going to search through 23 pages and growing to eventually be able to find your great table. No one. If you post a separate thread people can find it. All cool projects need to be on their own thread Linda S
  21. I would love to see some interior pics. Your heater outlet is forward of mine. Way forward. Wondering where everything is set up inside. Is your furnace under your closet? The black looks good. My bumper is starting to show some rust. I might do the black thing too Linda S
  22. For starters. Overpriced and the first order of business is to ask them to remove the rear wheel covers so you can see if the axle has been upgraded. 6 Lugs and a protruding center hub is what you need to see. Linda S
  23. Asked a friend who lives near there and has a Toyota RV. Let you know if he gets back to me. Don't know if he's ever had any trannie work done though
  24. Good to hear from you and know that you didn't freeze to death yet. Sounds like your really making this work for you. I'm sure your oxygen sensor is what's giving you the low mileage. Computer doesn't know how to adjust the fuel ratio without it. Linda
  25. Beautiful job. I guess I just got lucky. Both of my Sunraders have windows that fit at least the front ones pretty well. Linda S
