gr8white
Recently when I shut my AC off the compressor stays on. The only way to shut it off is to turn the breaker off. Why is this happening?

gr8white
I found out its the thermostat by disconnecting the yellow wire and it turned the compressor off. Now the question is what thermostat do I get and where?

Maineah
How do I know what thermostat to get. I went to Home Depot and they didnt have a clue. It has to be for A/C and heating if you get cold the heat comes on at falling temps if you get hot the A/C comes on at rising temps so one thermostat has to be able to do both. Any thermostat that is made for both A/C and heating should work. You have a yellow wire that you disconnected so it kind of has to be a wall thermostat your other wires should be red and white.
