More Pix from my new rig....

Palfreyman

Recommended Posts

This is my 82 Rader... sitting in the mechanics parking lot. Won't be looked at until next week cuz the dude they assigned to look at it (an owner of one himself) is on vacation until next week...

The six digit odometer reads 026,550 miles.. Either the it turned over a million miles, is broke, or accurate..

I'm told the dent in the front happened recently, while they had it towed to their home (from their deceased fathers estate...) and the siding on the drivers side peeled away while being towed at highway speeds..

And those propane tanks.. too rusty? Too old (the valves look outdated..)

hey there palfreyman, your pics indicate you have a little work ahead of you. but don't become discouraged, you will have a fine rig after a little TLC.  not sure about the condition of your tanks, someone here will have the correct advice about the tanks and any other issues or questions that you may have. WELCOME  and have fun. thanks for posting the pics. nice to see another buckeye with a toya !!!  joe from dover  GO BUCKS

Those are removable tanks, they have to be removed to be filled. THEY ARE NOT BBQ TANKS.

Just remove them and clean up with a wire brush. Then go to a hard ware store and get a couple rattle cans of propane tank white. Paint and presto new tanks.

actually you can also take them to napa auto and have them sand blast them, then hit them with POR15 if you want those tanks to really be new-ish. rattle canning them is what the last guy did and look how that turned out. :)

perhaps, but wire wheeling a propane tank would take a bit of effort. dropping the tank off at Napa is only $25 to be blasted and no work ... you can easily pay for it by running 65 psi on the next road trip :)
