I was wanting to know if anyone has put Dexron lll-h in their transmission and was there any problems? I did a fluid change (about 2 qts) and running really good but fluid is still dark and I'm planning on doing a couple more fluid changes. It's an 87 Odyssey automatic, 22 re with 36,000 original miles. I'm thinking that the people I got it from ran it with the od on the whole time. I did pull the pan and things looked very clean besides the brownish fluid.

I also have a 94 Warrior with a v6.  I use   "Valvoline MAX Life"  full synthetic recommended for most GM, Ford, Toyota and Honda models.

Drain and fill takes  "3 Quarts plus 8 ounces" so a 1 gallon jug does it. I buy it at Walmart for under $20.

At my local Wal-mart dex is 3.99/quart.  For 4.49/quart I buy Valvoline Max Life full synthetic transmission fluid which is specifically listed for dex-ii, dex-iii and dex-vi as well as mercon and others.  Photo above is copied from a post by Darrel.

if you do a google search on "is dexron iii compatible with dexron ii"  you will find LOTS of stuff to read.....   THe short answer is yes (I think??)

Thanks man, I read about 2 hours worth of stuff and also called a few transmission shops. Everything says that now a days d/m is pretty much interchangeable so I'm going to run with it and if I blow my tranny I'll make sure to post an update, thanks again for the reply.

Thank you for the reply, I'm going throw the dice and see what happens. The reason I want to run the dexron lllh is I got a great deal on a 5 gallon bucket for 20$ and it was very hard to pass up when it goes for around 85$ .

Great buy.  Sounds like you are set on that for a long time.

I also use that oil in my 2004 Tacoma, no problem.

this is what I have been using - about every 10k miles I drain 2 qts (what will come out of the drain plug) and replace.

I just did 7400 miles this summer, about the same last summer.
