davidtan
Hi Guys, My heater sometimes makes a squeaky sound. Sounds like a loose fan belt . Sometimes its there and sometimes not. I took off the cover but could not find anything that was acting up ( matter of fact, i cant find anything that moves). Is the heater easy to pull out or should i just live with it?? WME
Fan bearings are getting dry. Some oil will help but it will be temporary, best answer is new fan motor.

The motor has no ball-bearings. It uses Oil-Lite bronze bushings. In theory they store 30W oil because they are porous like a sponge. When they sit the oil recedes and the surfaces get dry. In theory, once the motor spins and those bushings warm up - they release the oil and the squeaking should stop. If not - the motor can be taken apart and the bushings "recharged" by heating and soaking in 30W oil. Not an easy job though.
