Maineah Posted August 5, 2015 Share Posted August 5, 2015 That is a common problem the drains are not on the bottom so any yuck stays there. They do make a wand for a garden hose that you wash out at least some of the junk. I hate to say this but welding/patching the tanks generally is a waste of time because the entire bottom up about 2" will be full of pin holes that may not be leaking now but will sooner or later. I made the mistake of replacing a tank once it was only after I was done I found out I could have bought the complete heater for about $20 more.
