iowabob
I have an 84 New Horizon 21ft. The Atwood hot water tank has got a split in it and I need to replace it. Not quite sure how the fittings are removed. Is the tank itself just sitting in a cradle or is there mountpoints to undo? The propane heater works great, so just the tank needs to be dealt with. Any sugesstions or manual links would be greatly appreciated.
DanRT66
Looks like the inner tank can be replaced http://www.makariosr...er-g6a-3-91412/ Might be more work than replacing it all, I really don't know. Manual link: http://manuals.adven...ter-Service.pdf Doesn't seem to go back as far as the G6A-3 model. Don't know if you can get to this link, it's a 1989 manual: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_1LbTxQDmlVOGMxZmQ5ZWYtZjk3ZC00NmI2LTlkN2QtMTUzZDViMzU0Mzkz/view?hl=en&pli=1 Good luck. 5Toyota
I see you have shark bite on one connection there is a plastic tool sold to push the plastic ring back to unhook the fitting . or just cut the pipe and put the pipes back together with push together fittings. you will have to remove the entire heater to repair or replace it . Maineah
The rear fittings are hard to get to sometimes you can remove the floor in a rear closet and get to them check first and see if anything is removable above them if not you may be able to put it out enough to get to them. Replacing the tank is not really worth the effort yes you can save a few bucks but not a lot maybe $20-30 and you will need a special tool or be able to fabricate one to join the tank to the mounting plate on many. Truly a complete new unit is the way to go.The entire thing comes out the side there are no fasteners on the inside just the pipes.
