Hello to everyone. My name is Jack. I am a new member. I am about to purchase a 1987 4x4 sunrader. I would like to know if the tires are the same size front and rear. Also, will BF Goodrich 195 75 14 all terrain fit on my vehicle. Also, what is the best shock to put on. Bilstein, or something else. Thanks if you can help me. Jack 760-473-1052 jackcrabtree@mac.com

Hey Jack welcome. Your Sunrader 4x4 has 15 inch tires and you need to find ones with a heavy enough load rating for your camper. Here's are a couple I know have been used by Sunrader 4x4 owners

Yes your wheels will fit a 215 tire

And another tire I know a sunrader 4x4 owner bought

Ya know I just realized it but both of these Sunrader 4x4's had the upgraded axle and true duallies. If your rig still has the older style fake duallies these wider tires might not fit. There are some 195r15 tires available. Let me know what you have and I will look for some but pretty sure I'm not going to be able to find an AT tire. I do have a friend with the fake duallies. I will email him and ask what tire's he has

Well the goodrich tire I posted above does come in a 195 size and the load range is high enough

Whole link won't come through. It's at Tire Rack online. Of course if you don't plan on buying at tires just let me know and I will find what you need

Yes hello, my name is jack. Someone replied to my question on size of tires for my 1987 sun radar. I do have the floating axle upgrade, although my wheel size is 14" not 15". So someone told me that BFG all terrain t/a ko 195 - 75 - 14 would not because there would not be enough clearance between the duals. Is this correct. Jack jackcrabtree@mac.com

Those BFGs will have around 1/8" of clearance between the sidewalls of the duals.

Toyota 14" dually wheels (6 X 7.25" pattern)

185-14C tires have .725" clearance between the sidewalls

185-75-14" passenger car tires have 1.125" clearance between the sidewalls

195-75-14" BFG All-Terrain tires have .125" clearance between the sidewalls

Note I'm talking about the 6 lug by 7.25" pattern on a Toyota full-floating rear.

From the specs published on Tirerack.com, the BFG you quote is a bit wider (Section width: 7.7") than the tires typically fitted.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO

Yokohama Y356 in the 'correct' size are listed as a bit narrower. I'm not sure how accurate any of these published dimensions are. Inflation pressure, load and rim width will also affect the Section width.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Y356

What tires do you currently have fitted (make, size & inflation pressure) and what clearance do you currently have?

People typically say not to fit a tire too wide because the sidewalls can rub and lead to failure. Another factor, even if they don't physically rub, is heat build-up due to reduced air circulation between the tires.

Sorry, There are quite a few possible configurations on the rear wheels of these Sunraders. Original is fake 15 inch dually. Upgraded gives you a true full floater but 14 inch wheels in the back and 15 in the front which you have. Many Sunrader 4x4 owners have had custom 15 inch duallies made. Then you no longer have to worry about the wheels not being in sync when your in 4x4 mode. They are available at this place but I'm sure you already spent a lot of money on your rig. Might be worth considering though before you buy new and expensive tires
